it was on arcade first, but yeah, the tech of even arcades was limited, but that just means now we get better versions with better tech.

Just to be pedantic, the NES didn't have a sound card; it had a chip directly soldered to the board. The only Nintendo console to have a sound card would be the early-model Super Famicoms
