You're my favourite fencing content creator, and I can say that with confidence. Idk if it's your choice of video topics, your editing or your humour, but it's like getting kissed by the chef. I thought that was just me that noticed that wierd "Reeeeaaady" I found it to be rather annoying and if were being reffed with this would take advantage of the fact that this word, is actually a question, according to the rulebook and you are allowed to answer it or remain silent.

@@Dancingtuna Cause you can set the pace of the start. The rules are clear. "ready" is a question and upon an afirmative answer or lack of answer, the ref starts the bout. Also, the other fencer might get distracted or better yet annoyed by this. Trouble is, this could annoy the ref.

As far as fencing tactics / technique, I have nothing to criticize here but his psych out game of celebrating is weak. There is nothing in the rules to stop one from laughing in his face, copying his yell and mime it back to him. I would even consider congratulating him for reaching puberty on a few of his yells. Once at a NAC, I copied and mimed my opponents yell back to him. He had one of those kind of "appa ppaa" yells and whenever I got a touch I would emulate with his yell with a pureposely slightly less masculine voice than his and it crushed him. Everybody watching the bout was cracking up including the ref. After that all the touches just kep getting easier. That said, this stuff does often work to bring down the opponent's confidence .

Looks kinda tiring to copy Kim's screams. He's also old enough to be from the generations where people on the circuit looked down on non-Europeans even more than now, I don't think he'll be that effected by laughing

@@Dancingtuna I havent met any Europeans in fencing yet who look down upon the Koreans. All I have seen is amazment and admiration for their abilities.

@@esgrimaxativa5175Have you listened to Szabo and Max's podcast with Homer? Back when Szabo's dad was fencing on the circuit, fencers reffed the poules, and if you weren't from one of the influential countries you could never win. This was the generation that became Korean coaching team which coached Kim's generation. And correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but is your logic that: if you've never met any Europeans that look down on the Koreans, then that's a good enough sample size for the international circuit around the season of 2005 onwards?

@@Dancingtuna obviuously my evidence of this anecdotal. been here 20 years or so and just haven't heard anybody saying they would ref badly to keeo them down or even talk badly about there fencing other than what amounts to sour grapes.
