John Mayer is grossly underrated among the Blues community and that's really sad to see. John is an amazing musician, and is very skilled with the guitar.
@L3ONARDO078 жыл бұрын
He's blues influenced but not a bluesman. I actually hear lots of positive things about John from the blues community, but there's nothing surprising about blues purists or semi-purists not accepting someone into their circle that has never released a single blues album.

@daviegarden26242 жыл бұрын
John Mayer did an excellent job on this, there is too many people criticising him here, someone mentioned his guitar being not loud enough, that comment tells me that commenter hasn’t got a clue about playing . The difference between Mayer’s version and SRV’s version is that John’s guitar tone is cleaner than Stevie’s, less distortion than Stevie’s, that’s what you’re all hearing. For me, it’s as good a cover as you ever hear and I’m sure DT would agree.
@brandonwiggers871310 жыл бұрын
People, grow up. For those who actually have extensively listened to this and the original Empty Arms, it is obvious that it is a take on it, and a quite good one, might I add. People need to quit comparing Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Mayer. He is paying tribute to one of the greatest guitarists in the world. This is an honor, not a guitar slinging contest. If Stevie saw this comment thread, he would be appalled at what you all are saying. Enough said.
@Slider62945 жыл бұрын
SRV would dig it I hope. No one can do what he did, but he was humble and always self-effacing. Most of America wouldn't know Buddy Guy in the 21st Century if not for SRV and I'm going to see the wonderful 82 year old BG in two nights. THAT is a legacy. And the world keeps spinning...

John mayer is our eras Stevie Ray Vaughan. If you really look at his technique, precision, and accuracy when hitting notes, he is unmatched by any guitarist past present or future. It’s almost like he does srv better than srv does srv.
@route66663 жыл бұрын
John Mayer is our generations Stevie. But they do completely separate things. No one does SRV better than SRV. And no one does John Mayer Better than John Mayer. There are plenty of guitar players that do things better than John Mayer; there are plenty that do worse. It is stupid to compare them as you do.
@spyr53903 жыл бұрын
@@route6666 thats false, they literally do the exact same things dude.
@route66663 жыл бұрын
@@spyr5390 Sure, if your definition of exact is playing the guitar or the blues, then you are correct. They are both incredibly great guitar players and musicians, but to say they do the exact same thing is insult to both of them. John is a huge disciple of SRV, he grew up listening to him. But he has a completely different feel than him. They both sound drastically different. You could make the argument that John was in a SRV/Pearl Jam tribute band in high school, but that's the closest he came trying to be exactly like Stevie. Me, in my opinion, feel it is stupid to compare guitarists to see who is better. And also saying two guitarists are exactly alike. I'm not sure why you do it. But that's my two cents.
