I was a big fan of his in early 70s. In about 1979 or 80 he came to Kansas City to perform at the summer Music in the Parks program.my husband & I took our two kids & lawn chairs. He was performing in the small deck of a little travel trailer (of course being Doug Kershaw I'm sure he Cajun danced on & off of it the whole program). Can't tell you how many fiddle strings that wild Cajun broke but music was super from the first link of the bow to the last Cajun yell! I'm now 83 & still watch his videos on my phone. What an entertainer!!! Thank you Doug for all the years of happiness you brought!

I've always preferred the hard rock/prog rock genre, but I've always LOVED this man! What a talented musician and premier showman! Every fiddle/violin player that I've known have said that it should be physically impossible to play the way he is able to, yet there he is. Being a musician myself, I have always had the utmost respect for this man and believe that he should have a place in the hall of fame.

I saw the Ragin' Cajun perform at an outdoor venue near Atlanta in 1973 and was so impressed that when I had children, I sought out fiddle lessons for all of us. Now they are interested in other genres, of music, but I still dance Cajun every chance I get.

Awesome performer🎻👍🎻 and great song! I recall back in the early 70's back in my early honky-tonk days, us young jaspers would head out to the " Western Gardens" a dance hall/beer gardens in west Edmonton, AB, a few blocks from the Klondyker Hotel. This song would be played numerous time throughout the night, but when the neechess got rowdy a big free-for-all would commence, then they'd have to shut down the honky-tonk joint, clean it up, and open er up again...man those were fun times🙃😉😊😅.

Saw him in Lake Elsinore California, on the 4th of July in the early 80's. It was over 100 degrees out. I sweated all my makeup off, my shirt was wet, but I went up and told him I wouldn't have put up with the heat for anybody but him. I didn't know he was going to perform or I would have brought my three albums for him to sign. He was very gracious.

I think back in 1968? On the Johnny Cash show, when Doug Kershaw, appeared as a guest, Johnny Cash, (whom I was also VERY FORTUITOUS), to meet, said that Doug Kershaw, was a virtuoso, of twenty eight, other instruments. To include the guitar, concertina, mandolin, the autoharp the dobro, and others, but the fiddle was his favorite instrument.

I had the pleasure of seeing him lead off the show for Tanya Tucker in the early 70s, and I'll tell you this. It was UNANIMOUS among everyone that he was the hit of the show, he had to be the hardest act to follow in show business history. There was not a foot in the audience that was not keeping time with him, and our nickname for him was "Rubber Legs", his whole body just vibrated with his music. I always loved cajun music, my first taste was Fats Domino in so many hit songs in the 50's, but Doug Kershaw will always remain #1 in my heart for Cajun.
