Yep. Doug was trolling part of his own audience. The more "macho" motherfuckers who like his comedy otherwise, but also actually hate homosexuals. Doug doesn't care who he offends. He'll fuck with his own fans just to see how far he can take them with him. A real comedian and artist.

Doug has a tendency to take the scenic route with a joke. He'll set up a premise, then go into a side tangent before returning back to the original joke. This is like his ultimate version which is actually brilliant. Gilbert Gottfried did the same thing. Its something that only an extremely talented comic can do.

Don't give up on him just yet. You just have to understand Doug's sense of humor. The fact that you were disgusted and didn't want to continue the reaction, is what makes it funny. It was also a long buildup for a small payoff, a style of comedy that few could pull off, like Doug Stanhope or Norm Macdonald.

This could be converted into a version of The Aristocrats very easily. Shock is the entire reason for it’s existence and there is the art, there is why it’s funny, because it’s brilliant.

I am a Doug Stanhope fan since 2004. It took me watching this probably five times to understand it. He’s trolling the fuck out of people. He’s trying to make people as uncomfortable as possible. It’s actually one of my favorite bits now, but you can’t kind a recommend it to people without knowing it’s sort of the backstory. Because yeah dude…
