my first car put on the parking lights if you left on the corresponding indicator and switched the engine off. And since the indicator stalk had to be manually disengaged from left because some catch was broken, I always had to check if I didn't leave it on by accident. Because the battery & electrical system were weak as well. Which was understandable because the car was built in 1985.

@@zJoriz I suppose it depends on your country - if parking lights are not required, then car manufacturers probably won't put them to cars made for that country. In my country, every car needs at least the "standard" parking lights which light up a small bulb in all 4 corners. You typically control this with the same switch as the normal lights (parking lights are the first position if the switch is rotary). The ability to light up just the left or right side of the vehicle is IMHO optional and depends on whether the car manufacturer wants to give you this choice that saves energy. I don't think the law dictates this function.

Yeah they might be the same cars technically, but the set-up is completely different. Suspension, transmission, engine mapping, aero and weight distribution. It's all a little different and it adds up. Professional drivers say it too, they behave significantly different.

@Ali Alexander Nope, Manual Era is over, it only comes in a 8 speed auto even in Europe, if it did exist a manual one it would be on sale in Norway for sure, we even have a 114D manual just cause of our high taxes on ICE vehicles... So if that existed it wouldve been here already.

One thing about that... when you certify cars for sale in the US, you have to crash test manuals and automatics separately so it's not as easy as you might think.

Apparently many people have similar thoughts. And in this case I believe them because the auto lock and parking lights features have been around a decade and decades, respectively. It's weird to see Doug was so surprised by them. Then again, maybe he did this on purpose because he cares about YT ratings, which are probably fuelled by comments. Acting surprised by something obvious is a good way to get the fingers typing. Like I'm doing now. As for the Doug the kind of guy thing, I guess that's a proper meme now. People try to outwit each other and often end up making the same joke. Can't be helped unless you read all the comments, I guess.
