Oh yes. Douglas knew how to make a point. clearly concisely and with maximum humour.

... but trying to get him to actually put it down on paper for posterity was enough to drive literary agents (and radio producers) to drink. Months and months of drafts and re-writes (of the first page) followed by a few days of compulsive frenetic typing, usually when the last absolutely final submission deadline had gone whooshing by ...

I find it horribly annoying that they never made the 2nd and 3rd part of the movie trilogy. Watching this on my 42nd birthday.

Has it really been 20 years since he's gone? We're growing old while Douglas is not. I miss every book he didn't get to write and will always be grateful for the ones he did.

It's so tragic to not have him BUT it's kind of nice that he died in the old world and didn't have to see covid, 9/11, the many wars and natural disasters, social media and smartphone-zombies, terrorism, school shootings, etc. Sure there plenty of problems back in his day too, but it just seems like such a different era and simpler time

We have an audiobook of DIRK GENTLY read by Douglas. He’s very good at a sustained reading, which is rare among authors (brief pause while I recommend John le Carré).

I would be interested to know what vegetarians may think about vegetables not wanting to be eaten?

Vegetarian Gnosis moment . Vegetables aren't the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. They do not know evil. Christian gnosis has it that a Supreme Being refer to as our Heavenly Father the Living God made for us plants good for food and that the plants are stars and we have a way greater than the Stars to be made into mind heart body rather than star Soldier Beast.
