However, in 1949, Jordanian forces marched in and illegal;u took over East Jerusalem and the West Bank, threw out the Jews living there, destroyed all things Jewish and joined Egypt, Syria in shelling Israeli territory . In the 1967's Six Day war, Israel took the opportunity to RECLAIM Jerusalem and the West Bank from their Jordan OCCUPIERS (in terms of international law, now being denied).
