Ha ha @lgwjr you beat me to it. And it’s the Shamrock ☘️ not clover 🍀 that he used Doug! Never mind. I might try this tomorrow given the day that it is and we are all isolating in Ireland for Paddy’s Day. Enjoy & have a drink for us Irish - all our pubs are closed (can you believe it?!) Feckin’ coronavirus 🦠 😳

My Home Depot doesn't have 2x2 popular so I'll try Mernards soon I'm watching this video noticed the knife was fitting into the shoulder cut just before you mentioned it. Believing you have taught me some things Thanks I'm building myself a few starting knives and after I learn what kind of handles fit me plan to buy a good knife and as a BladeSmith ( my hobby) I will build a great set for my fit. Remember on one of your many videos believe you said people claim that you don't talk enough I disagree I believe you audio instructions are spot one great job Sir. I'm watching many videos and others carvers with the carving lessons you my favorite. I'm watching a Japanese teacher doing great information about knife care. You don't use the V tool as much I think I'll be using it and you might being a teacher and teaching how to use less tools to get into the hobby ( perhaps) Thanks for motivation and teaching me Sir

I gave it a go today. V cuts on the sides of long flat surfaces are tough. I can barely get my blade in. Not sure if I’m keeping blade sharp enough, don’t have the strength yet or wood’s too hard? Had a great time! Love the show Doug. My shelves are grow’n with lil elves.

Coming from 29+ years of carving birds, ducks and chip carving, this delightful hobby is quite challenging. I watch and rewatch your 2 Leprechaun videos and enjoyed the beginner one. Power carve ducks and birds but of course chip carve with knife. Carryover from chipcarving has more applications but I must say you are very skilled and have a very creative mind. Also, just downloaded your Podcasts,interesting….. People seemed to have welcome you back???? Best regards

Another fantastic video, Doug. Really appreciate you skill and your generosity sharing it with us. I have been working my way through all of your videos (in no particular order) and love them all. You're unique Doug. l hope you are making videos for the next 50 years! I have a question: when I create a stop-cut like on a hat brim or shoe sole and then cut against it, invariably when I cut into it pieces of that thinner wood left always break off. Lot of force, little force, big slice, tiny thin slice, nothing matters. I always lose chunks. Anybody?

Thanks for the great video! I have a question. When I watch around 30:30, how do you keep from over cutting the bevel cut and leaving a cut line. I did get my hands on a teacher's finished piece in a class at a carving show and saw that they had those over cuts. You mentioned in another video about using a gouge to make the initial cut then cutting to it on both sides. Maybe you could make a video on this issue. You are so inspiring. Thank you!

That’s a fun one. The long swooping cut that you did around the beard is the cut that for some reason scares me to no end. I feel like I am putting to much pressure or not enough and that the knife is going to bite me. You make it look effortlessly.

Not seen them in the latest vids you did Doug :) I really would love you to remake some of the ones you think we don't need to see how they were 'made unique' as I really fail until I get instructions on the reasons why the cuts were made and which direction etc. :)
