Dover Priory & Dover Western Docks

Photographed on two separate days, this clip features Dover Priory station, views from the train to Dover Western Dock, loco activities in the freight yards and the journey back to Dover Priory. Locomotives featured are Class 33/2's and a Class 47/8 as well as a few EMU's. This is an extended version of a previously posted clip.

Great video, very nostalgic. Really funny seeing people leaving a train 12:53 while it's still moving, I kind of miss the slam door stock.

This was such an active part of the railway in my day, so sad to see it reduced to this level.

i wonder what it looks like now ? i agree i loved those times. still live 90 feet from the railway. lots of things have changed over the last 45 years. only 2 line now instead of 4. (breaks your heart) big TOM

Strange, I was looking at it thinking how decrepit and run-down everything looked. Especially at the start, on the approach to Priory.

i assume the channel tunnel changed a lot, redirecting traffic flows behind barbed wire :(

Yes, train ferry service ended very soon after the tunnel opened. Not sure what you mean by "behind barbed wire", though -- you can see in this video that the train ferry terminal had security fencing, too, so nothing has changed there.
