yeah my nephew asked me that , i couldn't fathom that i would ever be asked that question in my life. He's looking at me waiting for the answer i just shut up and proceeded to go to my wardrobe while he looked on, and i pulled out my records Led Zep 1,2,3,4, Houses of the holy and Physical Grafitti, handed it to him and said... IS THAT A SERIOUS QUESTION ? LOL he looked me and said.... OHH !!! i made sure he never asked such a stupid question in his life again so now he like Stairway, Dazed and confused, The Rain Song and Gallows Pole and goes around telling kids of today that he thinks the music of today is shit and he loves Led Zep among many others but yeah, i was blown away that that question would exist in my lifetime

A lot of people are asking in the comments, WHY IS IT FORBIDDEN? Here is my explanation: Even though it's a long song by radio standards, once upon a time Stairway to Heaven was one of the most overplayed songs on the radio. Every guitar player, and I mean every guitar player, had to learn this song, especially beginners who had a little more experience than absolute beginners, because it was a relatively easy song to learn. The song was so burnt out that it became a joke if someone came into a guitar store and started playing it. Like, "Look at me, I can play Stairway to Heaven!" So the song was effectively banned from guitar stores. Not so true anymore. Over time the song has regained its classic status. But it is still considered a "forbidden" song among seasoned guitar players, especially if you're sitting and playing in a guitar store.

@@jonathannocon the song is fine. However, the opening of the song would get played often, over and over, very poorly, by people testing guitars. Enough to drive the guitar store employees mad. Not the whole song, just the opening.

Except he played the D chord without the F sharp on the D string in the open position, and a C chord instead of an F chord with the little e string open (can't remember the technical name of the chord). It finishes the descending pattern when you do it that way. Nonetheless, still played beautifully, Dovy style.

Of course you're going to have to put a few miles on yer' butt... as the amount of music stores in your neck of the woods (I know, I lived in Bradenton for 17 years, AND I am a pro drummer...) and still live in Florida. But, if you hit the available S.A., GTR CTR. and the mom and pop music stores, you could PLAY ALL the revered and hated, or forbidden songs on guitar!!!! That would be a hoot!!!
