Bishop Westcott Boys' School (BWBS), commonly called by Westcottians, is one of the oldest schools in the eastern region of India. The school is located on the banks of the Subarnarekha River in Namkum, 12 km from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.
Mr. R.I.Thornton is the present principal of the institution. One of the best Principals you can come across.
It was founded on 24 February 1927 by the Rt. Rev. Foss Westcott. The school building served as a makeshift hospital during World War II.
This school is one of the best schools in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
This video is closest to my heart as I visited my school along with my son. I always wanted to take my son along with me to visit my school and was successful this time. The smile on my son's face when he saw the "Big Field" was touching. He had many questions and I knew then that he is loving it.
Walking down the corridor of my school I could revive those old memories when we used to run around like kids. Waiting for the bell to ring so that you can go and get in the queue to play a game of table tennis in the TT room. Those were great days.
The students are part of any one of four competing houses - Allenby (Yellow), Hastings (Red), Wellington (Green), and Nelson (Blue). I was part of Allenby (Yellow) House and Mr. D.K. Sinha was our HouseMaster in the '90s. Mr. D.K.Sinha was a very tough teacher from the outside but a very soft, understanding person from within.
Plus two sections is a co-educational one.

Since morning all my seniors have been watching this vlog and sharing their comments...I feel blessed that this vlog of mine is able to bring back smiles and childhood memories of my seniors who used to study in BWBS when I was not even born... He was my House Master... Wow... Great to know that you are the daughter of Mr. D. K. Sinha... We feared him a lot but he was like a father figure and was a man who was hard from outside but soft from within... Please convey my regards to him... My name is Arijit Dastidar... Your vlog brought back so many of my memories alive in front of my eyes. I studied from 1988 until 1995. Mr. Thorton was the principal back then. The School looks as beautiful as it was then in its Red colour. The list of memories goes on and on. 1) Those classroom, outside of which we kneeled down, worst being in a murga position. That was a trending punishment in those days 😂 2) The big field apart from our cricket matches, I realised that I could run faster than the fastest boy in all the sections of my grade. Also like Bollywood style whenever there was an argument in bus we use to tell "lunch mein big field mein mil phir batata hun." 😁 3) That bus waiting area after school, there use to be one big well, we use to climb and fill our Milton water bottles. 4) The morning prayer chapel, while coming out the Prefects use to check your shoes and nails. 😁 5) The auditorium at the front section where lot of celebrations happened. 6) The last hour of the day was spent in dormitory corridor finishing the remaining lunch as we were so busy playing during lunch break and then we use to run to our buses from there. 7) Some ghost stories too, as the section that was attached to the adjacent the military hospital use to be spooky 😀 8) There use to lot of mulberry trees towards the rear gate which was actually closed permanently. We use to get those fruits called toot and have them. Good old days!

So nice to see this video, I would be about the oldest ex-student of this school, the Senior Cambridge 1967 batch when Mr. Lavlette was principal and Mr. Fitzgerald was vice principal. Old buildings remain the same with the addition of a few more structures added since my time. Can never forget the memories of the time spent there. SPS Randhawa aka Gulloo.

When we used to study in BWBS it used to be one of the best schools of Ranchi...I left school in 1996 post Class XII and it will be close to 30 years and many of the teachers have retired...so I will not be the correct person to comment how is the level of study now a days...you can visit the school once and check it out yourself...you can also google the reviews shared by the current students or parents to get a better idea...for us our school will always be the best!!
