Full title reads: "DOWNSIDE ABBEY - Consecrated by the Prince Primate of Hungary".
Somerset, the West Country.
Pan down the Abbey Church of Downside - procession of priests in white robes leaving he Church. People around the church looking on. This is the ceremony of Consecrating the Church. Procession of Benedictine priests passing the camera. Several shots of the church. His Eminence, Cardinal Seredy (sp?) the Prince Primate of Hungary, going around the church splashing walls with Holy Water, procession of priests behind him. Cardinal blessing the church - he is rasing the church to the dignity of the Minor Basilica, informs voice-over. Several High Catholic Priests taking part in ceremony. Line of priests in black robes, praying. Cardinal kneeling in preyer before entering the church followed by other priests.

I can only wish and pray that England will soon find the path of the true faith and reconcile with the Church of Rome.

While I respect your sincerely-held beliefs, I cannot agree. I hope that England soon returns to the use of The Book of Common Prayer, The King James (Authorized) Version and the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Established Protestant Faith.

It is tragic that in less than a century after its consecration it has been abandoned by the few remaining monks, another desolation and bad fruit of the Vatican II revolution. I have happy childhood memories of visits, seeing rows of monks filing into the abbey for prayer in the seventies and of looking round it with my father who was an old boy of the school. So sad, the devastation of the great apostasy.
