When we traveled last summer we did three one night stops,then took a break for two nights until we got to our main destination where we stayed five nights, then moved to the next spot for 5 nights. This year, a seasonal site with day long day trips have worked out nicely. We NEVER use the rest area or campground bathrooms.

Deb, it is a totally different feeling to move often. I know someone else that would do a month at a time - with day trips. Larry will use the bathhouse for showers if we are conserving water - but both of us prefer our own bathroom 🚽 😁 Alice

We like to travel 1 day (maybe 200 - 400 miles) and then stay 3-5 days. Then see all the sites nearby. If you are full time, why rush it. Even doing it this way, we missed a lot of sites.

Same question. It makes no sense to rush. We're weekenders and love our RV trips. We're in it to relax and see the sites. So many fulltime rvers seem like it's just a lot of rushing around. I don't get it.

We travel for 5-6 months a year. We intersperse our one-night travel days with one longer (1-2 weeks) stop until we get to Arizona. We don't do nearly as much fun stuff as you two but I highly suspect that might change for our next trip since you've given me some travel goals.
@DownsizingMakesCents

Glenda, I do prefer only a 1 night stop every once and awhile - and spread out dry camping. Once we get a homebase in Florida, we will still do a few trips in the winter and keep doing 6 months in the summer - Florida is too hot in the summer. Glad I’ve given you some ideas. I wish we were doing videos like this the 3 summers we went to Canada - oh, the places we saw ❤️ Alice

I hope you saw the fluctuations in Medrano creek at the sand dunes. I liked that more than the dunes but it was very hot when we’ve gone. We summer in South Fork so if you continue on hwy 160, you’ll pass us. I look forward to see what you think about Wolf Creek Pass. I’ve lost track of the truck wrecks we’ve seen there. Great video!! But you slipped right past the Big Texan Steakhouse! We usually stop over at Big Texan RV Ranch and go have a steak dinner. Great food! Fun atmosphere. Yea...touristy but it's fun! We have driven by that Capulin volcano many times. Always joke that area looks like giant ant hills! Never knew there was a pretty campground over there! Can't wait to see next video! Oh answering the question: we generally have a limited time for vacation so we stop over one night at places along the way, depending how far it is. We have been known to drive straight through but now that we're getting older, we make shorter driving days and try to stop one or a few nights at a mini-destination.

I have to put his harness on and leave the choke off or he'll choke alright. for a bit you two were heading the same way we came back. I was thinking are they coming to the central coast of Ca? maybe camp on Oceano Dunes SVRA. I'd not do that myself. a lot of people get stuck in the creek crossing and get their rig flooded when the tide comes in. but was thinking it would be great to get the Scruffies together. fun! anyway we enjoy your videos and travels, make us want to finish the truck and get back out again. Dave, we at least balance the price by staying at recreation.gov sites. Like Larry said, I hardly ever do a detour like that. It would be nice to get the Scruffs together - to chase bunnies 😆 Maybe one day Thanks Alice

NO,NO run and gun. We go 1 day then stop for 2 nights. Go slow and see the country. And no outside showers. Just asking, why did we have to watch Larry take a shower ?

Tim, I get it. I don’t like to watch Larry shower either 😆 When dry camping or boondocking, many people shower outside. Alice
