Excellent. Alex was wonderful in Movistar and the interview. He’s almost to nice for that hard world of the pro scene. A level headed guy who takes everything in his stride. 💯🚴‍♂️👀

From the title I was prepared not to like this episode. However Alex’s matter of fact, no whining interpretation of his reality was refreshing and easy to understand. Well done!

Cycling at 50kph with wind blowing at 90º producing a yaw of 15º: Actual wind speed would be 13.4kph. Great listening to Alex.

Here they are...the Gravel Rules that encapsulate (somewhat) the ''Spirit of Gravel'' ;-) 1-Don't pivot, stay on the rivet 2-To power the wheel, eat more oatmeal 3-Ride in the rain, don't complain 4-Your luck is finite, so stay upright 5-A dirty bike means you're in the good fight 6-Don't sweat a flat, that's part of the combat 7-Pity the roadies, mere dasypoedes (sorry, but how am I supposed to find a word that rhymes with roadies?) 8-The washboard road, taping out freedom's code 9-Roads less traveled, troubles unraveled 10-Self-supported roll-out, ingenuity sprouts 11-A dusty track, stay ahead of the pack 12-No asphalt in sight, things must be right 13-Bumps and puddles are part of the puzzle 14-Pound on the pedals, problems will settle 15-Mercyless the Gravel Grinder, pavement is kinder 16-Tireless turning tires, Gravel grinders, the outliers 17-As the weather gets colder, gravelers get bolder 18-Gravel, mud, ice or snow, after many hours it's chapeau 19-The gravel trail never leads to fail

Gravel is only just catching on here in Sweden, which is remarkable considering that at least 75% of all the roads in rural Sweden are gravel!

One more evidence that cycling is not romantical hero-elevating sport it used to be. It's cold, calculated, data-driven accountantfest with lots of crashes and occasional positive spectacle.

Are sportsmen selfish? Thea's guys pursue a career that pays well for a few years? We effectively pay their wages because ibuy the bike's and the kit . But we work 50 years just to have a livable retirement sport is getting so entitled it is beyond belief please wake up to yourself.
