Hollywood did not "disown" her. She became typecast and could not overcome it and expand her types as Happy Days was too wellknown. To my mind, she could have had a career in voiceovers given her voice which is sad that she didn't explore that. She did however make her mark.

@@PeppermintPJ90025 They are merely actors, not "Hollywood." Hollywood is a place and like any job or gig. Just like all dentists aren't organized or a cabal..or all cashiers. And I hear this often that "such and such actors did not do anything to help so and so." Actors frequently work 15 hour days under contract so oftentimes they are not able to physically be there for someone. I do not know Erin's personal situation, however, I do know that half of what people read in gossip pages or online is untrue and for the sole purpose to sell papers or get clicks. Ansen was a costar and was there for her. People are people; some bad, some good. I only met Scott briefly and I think I stated my personal vibe about him of which he seemed rather a distant individual, but as I said people are people. Some good, some not that great.

Same, but I never found her attractive at all. As a kid never understood their relationship, he was doing way better life looking girls in real life. There were way hotter extras in the show that Chachi would've been all over in real life. It's sad to hear about her struggles in real life though, I though that she was still alive, that's a bummer.

I didn’t want to see a doctor cuz I knew my cancer was bad and I knew that the first thing a doctor will want to do is an X-ray which I believe would have accelerated my cancer. I did a lot of research and changed my diet vegetarian, stopped drinking tap water/alcohol/Pepsi, started taking higher doses of vitamin C, tried to remove all sugar from my diet, and started oxygen therapy (using food grade hydrogen peroxide w/ necessary supp.s). So many rumors swirled around her final weeks and months. I live right here in Louisville, Kentucky, not too far from where her home was in Indiana. Somehow, a rumor started that she was homeless because her husband or fiance had kicked her out. I do hope that was not true. It would be heartbreaking to think of her that way or anyone for that matter. I grew up watching the show, and she was my favorite character next to Fonzie. She really did represent the wholesome American idea of family. I'm glad to hear that someone was holding her hand in the end. Truly that's all any of us can hope for. Not to die alone

A few years earlier on the Howard Stern radio program, she told Howard someone on the cast had assaulted her, she would not tell the name of this man, I could tell she was being honest about it, one could tell by her tears she wasn`t lying, I`m always astonished at the loyalty victims show to their abusers. Then I see another young actor who said she was assaulted by this actor from Charles in charge.

I remember seeing a Happy Days reunion special a long time ago and Scott Baio would not even look at her or talk to her. She was crying and tried to talk to him and he sat away from her!! He treated her so bad on that show and it was so obvious that Gary Marshall got up and sat between them. I wonder what really happened between them?

I blamed Scott Baio for breaking her heart after their real life love affair. I’m grateful to you for letting us know that she had more love in her life than I knew about. So much I never knew about Erin Moran. I too am Happy her husband was with her when she died. To me, leaving this world with someone you Love close by is much better than being alone. I hope her then husband Is doing alright after that, and surviving with a positive attitude, difficult as it may have been. Loved Joanie's character and the whole show in general. But I am a little sister, so could relate to Joanie well.

I enjoyed Happy Days as a young person and later bc of reruns, my daughters always thought she was my doppelgänger. Makes me sad to know she didn’t have any more happiness than that. Life is hard for many folks but when your life is “out there” for all to see, even harder I would imagine. Knowing Jesus gives me happy days now!

Very well done. Glad you made the effort. It saddens me. That she was troubled as she was. I remember her on my TV screen. But it's good to know. That she was worth knowing. (Nobody is perfect. So let's get past that.) She was a talented woman. People saw her better self as Jonie on Happy Day's. (I believe she SPARKLED. Just like the character she played.) Life is a series of lessons. Some lessons come HARD. I don't judge her. But for the grace of God. There go I. I really hope she is at peace now.

Happy Days was a ritual in my childhood home, me and the other kids in the neighborhood all carried combs in our back pockets and wore clothes that closely resembled the Fonz. What it really did for us was instill an interest in the 1950s in America, I mean we were kids in the early 70s and was listening to 50s era rock, wearing approximations of 50s era clothing. RIP Erin thanks for all the fun and laughs.

I wasn't really a Happy Days fan and only watched because my parents loved the show - they were teenagers in the '50s - but I didn't mind Joanie. Erin always lit up every scene she was in. What she went through in her life is so sad. I wish she'd had it a lot better, but at least one or two people on the cast of Happy Days were good to her. I had no idea that she'd passed away. Like others have already said, RIP, Erin, and I'm so glad she was with her hubby by her side.

I met Erin unexpectedly when living in San Antonio, Texas. I'm an actor and was cast for an indie movie. During a fund raising/promo night she showed up. At that time I found out SHE would be in the cast as well. I remember standing in front of the production backdrop for promo photos. She took a shot with me and was funny and flirtateous with me. She was really cool and very upbeat. During the photo she had her arm around my waist. I'm 6'0" and she was pretty short compared to me. I just remember her hugging my waist really tight and pulling me towards her. I felt a little embarrassed but not really because of her. I just wasn't comfortable being flirted with so openly. Still, she was cool people. The movie never took off. The Director/Producer claimed his family needed him and well, it just all fell apart. I was so surprised though to see her there! Later I figured she was just that desperate for money or something. And that's fine. Acting is a rough life and sometimes you'll take those gigs that you might not normally do. Still, it all went belly up. I never saw her again. Later, like everyone else, I would find out about her run ins with the law and then her ultimate death. I still have that picture of her hugging me with this huge smile and lighting up the room with her personality and hardlined humor. I could tell she really was a party animal. Sad how it all ended for her.

The one thing I always remember about Erin, other than Happy Days, was an episode of the televised Howard Stern Show she was on in the early 90's. Howard was doing "Queen for a Day" and doing the bit where everyone gives a sob story and he would wring out a handkerchief and pretend to cry. I guess they figured Erin's would be Happy Days ending, but she brought up some..."Sexual assault"...and just broke down. I don't think it had come out in the part where the interviewers kind of run by the person what will happen on the show and Howard was just taken aback. You could tell something had gone off the rails because he actually eased back and tried to comfort her. That was always kind of heartbreaking. You want to see the people that life has kicked in the teeth get back up and really make it all work. All said and done, though, Erin brought a lot of people a lot of entertainment they probably needed in their life. It would be nice to have people be able to see how many folks they touched in a positive way so it might make them feel they had done more with their life than they thought they did. What may seem like a little can have far reaching effects.
