Supposedly they won't be able to, if a investigation is opened and see they hid funds so they wouldn't be able to pay. But if and when that happens, my kids will be grown.

There is no way these houses should have passed inspection to allow people to occupy and live in. I work in construction in DC, this smells like typical developers politics. The Department of Building formerly known as DCRA is at fault. Smdh

Give these victims cold hard cash!!! Down payments to move into better homes!!! If this same city can give $500M to Monumental Sports to revamp a sports arena, they can easily drop a couple hundred grand to each victim of this housing scam to these ladies for fraud and mental anguish.

My contractor ghosted me got paid 80 grand started work in 2021... After my home was damaged due to an ice storm. I get so mad about corrupt contractors. My house looks like sh!t. Uninhabitable. I'm trying to sue as well. I ran out of lodging funding as well. I have secure more funds to pay to get my home fixed. I'm sorry pissed.

The builders, the building inspector and the ones who choose this company (I doubt this is the first time doing it) should have to pay something. This has to be a scam. They now mark it as condemned and knock them down and do the same thing over again.

I'm sure they did but foundations shift. It takes a full year to really know if a new construction is stable. And that contractor cut corners.

@lavy1513 That's what happened to all the new homes in the newly built community in North Las Vegas, NV, an apartment complex near UNCC, the complex building my sister currently living in, and many of the newly built truck stops all over the country. I don't trust anything that's built within the last 30 years.

The tenants have known since 2018 that the building is not safe. They need to hurry up and move out as soon as possible for their safety. That building looks like it can collapse any day.

You local counsel has failed you and now you should sue the city. There’s no way anyone there should have to pay Mortgage and the building should be demolished. It appears it could collapse any day

Sooo no inspections or inspector's came out to the project during construction 👀 someone had to sign off on the work from the District office. There should be a long list of who did what. Even though the builder did bankruptcy his contractors license should of course burn and they can still go after him in civil court and I would say criminal too that looks like a case defrauding public with unsafe living conditions. DC building code office should have eyes on them too... Someone was taking money for favor. They need to hire an auditor to see where the money trail went before the bankruptcy to see if there was intention to defraud.

They will have to maybe go through their HOA attorney and file a class action suit to cover their mortgages and that will take a year of litigation also and tens of thousands in attorney fees before any real judgements are passed down!
