Where was this filmed at during the offroad segments? Looks very similar to Johnson Valley at certain times, others not so much. Really interested to find out.

aluminium tube frame chassis? :o

it looked like the guy's head was right at the height of the roll cage. I wouldn't want to get in a serious rollover crash or go tumbling down a hill with such little clearance between my head and the cage.

I'm curious if they heat treated ALL the aluminium AFTER welding to bring it back to it's original strength. 6061-T6 aluminium gets it's strength from the heat treating (...T6 condition) and is almost as strong as mild steel at about 45ksi yield. As soon as you weld it, however, the strength in the HAZ (heat affected zone) near the welded joints drops to about 20ksi. It needs to be heat treated AGAIN (...a real pain in the ass) to bring it back to it's original strength. If they didn't do any post weld heat treating then all that nice work is worth shit. You could still drive it on the street and take it to shows but it won't last doing what it's meant to do. Light weight supercars also don't see the kind of impact loads as an off road vehicle so they can get away with aluminium chassis. It's a question of metal fatigue. Heavy cyclic loads destroy aluminium. The stuff doesn't bend. It's just cracks and fails without warning.

+Internet Tough Guy im sure they did. its not hard at all, just toss it in a powder coating oven . If youre concerned about metal fatigue they did make the space shuttle out of aluminum, so there's that...

Rob Graham It's not hard at all?? You clearly have no clue. To get a -T6 designation for 6061 you need to go through a process and the first is to bring it to 980deg F. "just toss it in a powder coating oven"..Yeah, NO! (rolls eyes)

+Tylyr Fonteneau-Pannoni If he tried to put this thing through a mud hole, it better be less than 6 inches deep because this build has no ground clearance.
