Every time I think I can't be any more in love with Emma Thompson, she goes and proves me wrong :)

I love how engaging and spirited she is when she does interviews. Some interviews I've seen with other actors, they look bored and uninterested. She seemed very lovely and gracious. I also love her sense of humor and her ability to not take herself too seriously.

I loved your "chat" with Miss Emma... She has to be one of the most interesting, intelligent, funny and gracious people in the entertainment industry. Ive always been drawn to any of her work and your interview with her has been the cherry on the cake for me ... Emma Thompson you are simply the best !!!

Great interview with an actress who is a no nonsense human being with passion and a great sense of humor. She knows who she is.

Amazing when the publicist says, "Maybe you should start" at 01:13 -- it's what I like about DP30, which often plays out more like a conversation than a junket.

There are many very intelligent and funny actresses out there - Meryl Streep, Annette Bening etc. - but Miss Thompson is in the league of her own. I could listen to her all day long, she's just so smart, such a great sense of humour. And I'm a bookworm, I'm sure we could chat all day long! :P
@cocodakilla8 жыл бұрын
Meryl isn't intelligent at all. She is a puppet. Her comments about Walt were definitely uneducated and she is a feminazi. as much as I love Emma's acting she is quite a hypocrite when it comes to her causes. promoting a healthy environment but her lifestyle says otherwise. other than that she's likeable. More so than the false streep. Glenn close also gets no attention. Bette midler is SMART. and truly talented and original to top it all off.
@clairebaker54418 жыл бұрын
+Coco Pops I would say Emma is intelligent, she went to Cambridge and does a lot of writing and script writing. Also she is bonkers in the BEST way. I like Meryl too, talented, and she gave an opinion of him - he may have been a dick to her but nice to others, not everyone will like everyone. And please don't put someone who fights for equal pay and respect for women in the same category as people who killed 6 million Jews - they shouldn't be put together and all it does is tarnish the word feminists when the majority truly want both men and women to be equal and happy :)

I enjoy emma's movies. But her screen writing shows she lacks common sense. Instead of doing the right thing and pairing young people with young people in the movie she wrote (based on a very old book which I loathe) she instead paired a middle aged man with a girl. She failed to understand the novel was written in a time when middle aged men married girls NOT for love but their ageist views and sick fantasies. She should have made a huge change and showed how society needed / needs to change and how people should look for someone their own age (men especially). It is why I do not rate her as a writer. She has not come out with anything amazing. She just went along with the novel and that isn't great at all. I wish she would do a DIckens, a real story not social conditioning aimed at GIRLS to get them to agree to marry a sick man. Meryl is not talented. Hyped sure. She did not know walt. She ran her mouth about him and was proven wrong by THOUSANDS of people using evidence. While she chose to twist the truth. She is very much a radical and a media puppet. I have yet to see a film where she is amazing! She just plays herself while emma, glenn jessica lange and other talented artists get INTO their roles. I will say emma should stick to acting. She is best at it. I just wish she would do more roles! I hardly see any new films with her in them :(
@clairebaker54418 жыл бұрын
I love Meryl and I think she is amazing, but difference of opinion I guess. Jessica Lange is AMAZING so completely agree along with Glenn and Judi Dench (and Julie Andrews is another classic). Emma adapted the book, and like a lot of book adaptations she followed the story as written so if you don't like the story fair enough but the writing itself was very well done, but a version where it is more power to women and about actual love would be amazing! although the love between the sister is the book/film was great and felt very real. Merry Christmas :)

Claire baker Sense and Sensibility is one of the best movie screenplays, ever. Amazing how she could adapt a 200 year old book, stayed truth to that book but in the mean time she gave some fresh ideas, lines to the story. Beautiful work. Merry Chritmas to you too! :)

@baboom0079 жыл бұрын
Lynn Turman Because they are british
@clairebaker54418 жыл бұрын
+Lynn Turman It might be to do with living in the UK? I think Los Angeles is very different and has a sort of 'celeb hierachy' which we don't really have here (I live in London). Its quite grounded and we don't stalk the actors with paps as much maybe? Maybe she just has a nice family and good friends? She is good friends with stephen fry and hugh laurie etc who all became famous together
@EarthHart15 жыл бұрын
Because they've come up through theatre. As Emma has said in the past, there are three types of actors, theatre, TV & film, and to be good you need the grounding in theatre.

Such a lovely, intelligent, wonderful woman. She makes you feel that you would love to be friends with her. I can't believe that fashion commentator said that "she looks dowdy in anything.". @guinnberger26818 жыл бұрын
+freudulant: She did a picture called Primary Colors, with John Travolta... although she reportedly said she didn't base her performance on Hillary, it was about an American Presidential candidate and his wife... and she certainly looked like her.
@MrManas199510 жыл бұрын
with all due respect, i don't understand why people treat actors like phds in humanity or like major world leaders when it comes to issues. they are not necessarily well informed in these matters, or know what happens behind closed doors. they have a talent in acting, but that does not make them experts on too much else.
@Plons0Nard5 жыл бұрын

Do Americans really like Emma Thompson? She is a good actress and screenwriter but her popularity In Britain has declined and she is now thought of by many as rather condescending. In her usual forthright manner she probably doesn't give a damn what ordinary people think but snobbery isn't the nicest of traits.
@malissahyatt24254 жыл бұрын
American person here. I simply adore her.
@doublelightangel3 жыл бұрын
Er by which British people please? I love her and I am British. Please don't project your stuff on all of us..
@chrisnorton43823 жыл бұрын
@@doublelightangel - I remember one interview she gave in America when she slagged off the inhabitants of the Isle of Wight as basically fascist morons. The fact that her anecdote was actually concerning the Isle of Man didn't say much for her Cambridge education. It was all a big joke to her and the Americans just lapped it up. So make fun of anyone who is rural or northern or Welsh, as long as they are safely white of course - sure to get a cheap laugh from those who consider themselves superior. Sounds like snobbery to me. Genuine people don't feel the need to put other people down.
