The guard who quit after 125 executions was the most Amazing part of this documentary....it is haunting....Werner was right to underscore this moment in the film...it will DROP YOU where you stand!

So many people involved in the death penalty process are now tortured by it. Dr.allen Ault who was warden in Georgia, the former warden who oversaw Florida's execution chamber....

I didnt think it would be possible to make an interview with Hertzog boring, but kudos to you.

I 'respectfully disagree.' I love Herzog's voice and his wisdom - he's one of the greatest living artists.

Yes. He is a guru.

Werner would respectfully decline the role of 'guru'. What is it anyway?

Still watching in 2023 despite my left earphone running out of juice and David’s bad questions

The dichotomous nature of the interviewer's questioning is childish. Nevertheless, as usual, Herzog prevails. Countering with his rebuttals, he refuses to be placed into any group. Werner truly represents the power of the individual not only in his works, but his public persona as well.

I haven’t seen this film (maybe I will). What caught my attention was his statement “the abyss of the human soul”. It is really interestingly amazing how after thousands of years of humanity these human traits STILL stun us and we want to “understand” and find an answer to the million dollar question of WHY? My bottom line is that EVIL is incomprehensible.

how you look at it like he is having a normal conversation with another human being. By not putting him on a pedestal when he is talking he is more likely to get them to open up

who was the preacher man that holds the feet of the condemned as they take their last breath?

Awesome, he's amazing. He such an accommodating man, and such a tactical speaker. It's strange to hear your voice though and not see your face, were you miked like Werner was, it doesn't sound like it. If this was a decision, why?
@firstronfan7 жыл бұрын
The interviewer is asking those questions on purpose. He wants to hear Werner talk like a human, not an image he portrays.

Herzog is ALWAYS purely human.He is no actor; there is no "portrayal". For me, that's a big part of his genius.

The interviewer is a shallow type with out any substance and tripe annoying . I lost count of how many times he said Yeah and right . The interviewer talks so phlegmatically and lazily as if he was is in a milkshake bar or burger joint . He cheapens it by his shallowness and he sounds bored or like he is looking at his watch for his next appointment . Herzog is always interesting to listen to and i like his work . Some of his documentaries and subjects are very challenging . I like his films too before he became a documentary maker .

The person interviewing Mr. Herzog enjoys his own voice more than Mr. Herzog. He acts as if his questions are more important than Mr. Herzog's answer. A good interviewer nods their head and does not "talk" over the main character of the conversation. He has ruined this interview with his selfish interjection.

We know you all love Werner (me too), stop this pointless complaining. This is about 2 man having a conversation, each one with a different way to talk/ask and see things. And it's fine.

When I hear Mr. Herzog, when I watch his documentaries, I can think only of Yeats' words, "...a terrible beauty is born." Death is never pretty. Yet, in Herzog's capable hands, death or the possibility of death, never romanticized, has a certain...je ne sais quoi. Is beauty the only truth or does truth contain a certain beauty, even a terrible beauty? I'm sorry, but the interviewer is not worthy of his subject.
