They don't make actors with his integrity, talent and professionalism like Robert Redford anymore. I always go back to the late 60's, 70's and 80's in my heart, soul, spirit and mind. The present time is bizarrely upside down and insane. I absolutely am in love with this man! Great actor, extraordinary articulate, caring, intelligent person. 💗

Longing to escape from horribly overpopulated Long Island, climate change and relative health care disparities in most of the western states killed my dream of retiring there, while images-and what I've imagined are the scents-of deciduous and dusty western landscapes-have been forever pulling at me like steel to a magnet. Then, sadly or not, I bumped into one of the Redford produced PBS Navajo detective movies from the Tony Hillerman trilogy. I fell so HARDER in love with NM than I ever thought possible. I was so badly hooked again. I snapped up the other two on DVD and with almost every other scene was awestruck by the sky, the mesa, the land.........the stillness, the vastness, the quietude. And terrified at the thought of the snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, vinegaroons, black widows in my car or house. But how much I saw myself off many of the roads where Leaphorn and Chee rode. A few years later I found a post discussing "Thief of Time" and Craig Johnson's "Longmire" novels. Then I heard about the TV show on BDs and was blown away. But now there's only less and less water and more and more wildfires and more and more tears. And thanks to Dumbericans and most other humans it will only get worse. So now Redford gives us Dark Winds; more fantasy, longing and tears.

Most directors/producers/writers realize that the more they know about each person they meet the more stories they get. Movies/books/music - it's all about Human Stories, and Redford knows that. What makes a good director/producer is the person who is genuinely interested in other people's stories.... That is where LIFE lives, where heart and humanity reside.

When the interviewer asks " so is there something that you think is the thing that people see? And Redford replies "in me?". That type of self involvement is a commercial self image and only stifles. Redford doesn't go in that direction. He (R.R.) said "once you finish the work, for me, thats it!" He's not about seeking out the glamourous fall-out of what he's done. Personally I think Redford is more about "messages". As an actor, I think you need some kid of hunger .. I believe that was his. Portraying characters seeking truth, honest value, even nobility. In a free society where things are going sideways in many ways..its more about trying to contribute something of sane value. Something that makes people stop and think. Ego only seeks for people to stop and look, if you've got them addicted enough. There is far too much of that going on nowadays, with the advent of reality shows etc. No one can single handedly change the country, but I do believe Redford is one of those who likes to leave messages of balance.

I've visited Park City once almost twenty years ago very cute small town spring time at that moment, very beautiful Utah and walked around in Park City checked out the theater for sundance festival .My recommendation The Sundance institute should expand to Europe and Asia this can create more artists and film makers peoples craves for being film indy .The technology ahead of its time but human spirits now a day suck,i 'd liked to see Jeremiah Johnson over and over once every five years fan from his movies Mr.Redford since then, that movie i would called the true pilgrim,as i ' m studied Buddhist wilderness were a place for meditation.

Hoop Dreams... that was great!Oh yes, Min 5:25 when he says that docs fill the gap that is left with all the TV and Politics co"constantly cutting each other off, so we never really het to hear anything." Oh, that is SO true! I'm so glad I heard it put into words this morning... A film "elder"? Nah...I could watch him act and speak and think out loud forever. Rather watch him do what he does best: channel the progress of the American Dream thru his characters either on the screen or on the page. However he does it I hope I pick it up and channel it forward. That'd be the fruition of his purpose maybe...

Surprised he allows porn at his Festival - saw the doc on the student Chung who was gang Raped in London & is a total mess taking part in F Fests. Doc just seemed an excuse to feature porn. That was in 2000. Very surprised Redford considered it a serious entry, it won the grand jury. Probably helped to make porn mainstream. Surprising as Redford speaks of making worthy Subject movies or Films & then allows porn. But then a 'serious enviromentalist' who flew Concorde & drove a Porsche as he did - well, such Hypocrisy is explanation re the porn at his Festival. Always thought his eyes were ruthless! "Always on the phone setting up movies" said Pollack, contrary to Redford the non businesslike actor. Always late on the set too, inconsiderate. Oh well no one's Perfect - not even Redford.

You ask interesting questions, Mr. Poland. Now I have some for you in return. Why do you hide off-camera? It seems silly. You are not the only KZfaqr who does this, nor the first interviewer to hide off-camera. Just seems disconcerting not seeing you, too. I get wanting to focus on the subject but still. And not every KZfaqr is gorgeously camera ready so that would be a kinda lame excuse. Also: Why does it sound like you yourself are not wearing a mic? Why does your voice have a hollow echo to it that is not present from Bob's mic? And, really? The clapboard guy had to come in while the interview was happening? Not before? And did he need both a back and a front shot? Both in ridiculous slow motion? Come on. Very distracting. If you do 250 interviews a year, as you claim, David, why does this interview feel like it's your very first interview ever? Sorry to be harsh but I felt these things needed pointing out.
