Many of us did know about this loophole but the new euro golf commish elaborated well here. His hands are tied but he is a good communicator. The European tour all along has been willing to shamelessly charge their hero’s fines to play in the event the players make them the most money -while making nothing for themselves. The big difference between the euros and the Americans -aside from some Americans wanting to get paid or at least know where the money is going -is the number of required events. The euros have 4 events required so it is doable. The Americans are dealing with 15 event minimums which makes it impossible to play those events, much less pay all those fines and suspension periods. And ironically the pga of America is not even their tour. The point is the two teams have been operating on totally different terms, which ruins the integrity of the historically honorable competition imho. The euros seems to only care when black balling applied to euros but not Americans. The reality is if Americans can’t play, where’s the honor in winning this cup historically most based on honor. ? As far as Sergio and some of the other LIv OGs a lot of passionate decisions led to some impulsive decisions. But I also think it was a matter of principle. It’s wrong of the establishment to be finding any way possible to punish players for going to a new company bringing so much money and innovation and new jobs (players and otherwise) into the sport. It’s completely ridiculous imo which is why I can’t blame the Sergio’s for what they did. I do believe they were always going to unfairly strip the stensonators captaincy. I like how the new guys says it’s a case by case basis but it has to be fair and consistent. Those seem to contradict. I keep saying this: the established tours and the majors and the networks can do all they can to hold LIv down, but all they are really doing is shooting themselves in the foot. Over and over again. But as far as the Ryder cup is concerned I’ll say it Again: there is no honor for the euros to win with their ideal full squad if the other side doesn’t have theirs. We already saw some issues in Rome and it will only get worse. So yes, Rory is still actually correct: The rules need to change.

I dont believe that we all want the worlds best players playing against one another as often as possible. The Majors, The Ryder Cup, its not special if it happens every weekend.

Not a LIV fan at all but one thing I do agree on is LIV golfers being eligible to play Ryder Cup or President Cup fixtures after all your talking about playiing for your country and that alone unites both PGA and LIV golfers although for selection you still need a qualifying criteria (whatever the current criteria for selection is) you can't be selected on past performances

Didn’t Luke say they didn’t need to change the rules a few months ago when he was asked about Rahm and Hatton when he was appointed captain ? Also, the way I’m reading this is that they are fined if they don’t get a release and Poulter, Westwood and Garcia were not granted releases. So they are saying is they will grant releases to Rahm and Hatton. I just can’t see them saying if you want to play in Ryder cup we’re going to effectively charge you £100k per LIV event you play. Which is what they did for the others.

More like they need Rahm and Hatton. Surely you just pick the best european players regardless of where they play unless you want to play politics and pander to the pga tour monopoly. The last few years have been embarrassing for the sport.

So they pay 1.4m Euro x 2 just to play in the Ryder Cup. IF they get a captains pick because they won't have ranking points for auto selection.

I feel like I am repeating myself but these guys left knowing full well if they took the money and left they were going to lose her eligibility to play on the Ryder Cup and in certain tournaments on the PGA they went anyway that's fine they took the money they knew the consequences now all of a sudden everybody wants to change the rules cause two or three of the top players are not going to get to play for their perspective teams boo hoo you took the money and made the move for the quote benefit of your family's what was best for them so take your family stay with live and watch the Ryder Cup and the PGA tournaments on TV and quit your crying
