Aaron Sorkin is one of the most important writers of film entertainment of his generation or any other. He has a signature style. He is prolific. He tackles real issues, even if they are cloaked in familiar, seemingly less complex settings. He has his detractors, but no one can deny the impact he has and continues to have. He sat down for a chat with David Poland about his latest, Steve Jobs.

Always a treat to hear experts speak to their respective crafts. Thanks so much for doing these and for moving outside of the classic talk show questions!

So enjoyable and entertaining to listen to Aaron speak at length about his creative process and the making of the Steve Jobs movie. Thanks for the upload! Very quick 30 minutes.

I really loved the movie, I watched it a second time last night and I have it underneath Carol and pretty much in a 3-way tie with Spotlight and Brooklyn as far as my favourites of 2015 go. I probably prefer it to The Social Network, it's at least on a par with it and has the better central performances to me

Except that Aaron Sorkin is a douchbag who hates American values. He's a globalist who would see the destruction of all democracy.

I never heard of him but he's so funny and I see a comedy with him in it. He's "actory", nice looking, smart and funny. He'll make more money as an actor.

I really liked the movie, although the writing had its good and not so good moments in it. Fassbender + Winslet carry it all the way - they are both great. @DP: you have now interviewed pretty much everyone involved except Fassbender/Jobs himself... Any hope?

The movie's opening weekend was only $7.3 million (was anticipated to do $15-$19 million). Then it was pulled from over 2000 theaters, leaving it in 421. I like Sorkin, but this is not one of his finest moments.

+Nostravinci It's sad that the movie isn't doing as well at the box office but I think it's a bit shallow to judge an artist by the box office alone, The Shawshank Redemption bombed as well and it's number 1 on imdb not to mention one of the beloved films of all time. Steve Jobs will no doubt go down as one of Aaron's best scripts.

+Nostravinci In my opinion, It's not his fault. The movie is fantastic, especially the script. It's not his fault that people don't want to see it.

+Nostravinci you judge the quality of a movie by box office numbers? lol...
@Nostravinci

+Alessandro Fin Box office numbers represent the opinions of the paying public. Putting numbers entirely aside, I'll stand by my comment regarding the quality of the movie. This film is not one of his finest moments.

+Craig Bickerstaff I'm not judging the film by numbers alone. I walked out of the theater unhappy with the movie. It was unsatisfying on several levels. If it makes number one on IMDB, I'll be shocked.
