Explained: The HMA or Hull Moving Average Indicator is a moving average with considerably low lag compared to other Moving Averages. Created by Allen Hull, the HMA Indicator is calculated using a series of WMA calculations. Fortunately, TradingView has recently added a built-in Hull Moving Average function into Pine (hma()).

Dom Perignon cheers for your fascinating look down the rabbit hole of the Hull Moving Average equation calculation. Your clear explanation highlighted for me the interesting use of the square root function in the indicator. Understanding the hows and whys of the indicator give you tremendously more confidence in the "fog of war" of decision time in the trade. Technical analyst savant Michael Jenkins often discusses the importance of the square root function in the Pythagorean esque underpinnings of market HFT action guided by seeming mathematics. So to see the Hull average use this key metric, though disguised by a "mundane sounding name", makes you feel like you are in on the OODA loop used by HFT gamers to trade ahead of other traders. Amazing what you discover, as philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson observed, when you explore "...an inch wide and a mile deep.." into a research topic. The alchemy of unexpected results and insights from research can light the way in the relentless search for the truth. Ultimately, the truth in trading, and in the greater big board game of life, in the mathematical matrix, will set us all free.

Great videos as always! I was wondering if there is a way to determine the angle of the moving average with pinescript? It could be really interesting to find a treshold where the prices are in a trend or not based on the angle!

Hi sir i want to make a strategy....chart 15 mnt....indicator simple moving average 20bar on volume...now i want to get the candle which has 3times more volume than average 20 bar volume...sir how to make this..please help..
