For those who are also interested in South Korea, the hierarchy of Special city and Directly-governed city used to be the opposite in SK. Seoul (the capital city) is still the only special city. Directly-governed cities (such as Busan, Daegu) are now called Metropolitan cities(광역시).

Your map visuals are absolutely fantastic. Showing neighboring province borders, the way you illustrate Hamgyong’s etymology(at 1:57), and more are just so well placed and timed to make them easy for a viewer to process. Nice work!

Just for the record, Kangye (강계) and Hweryong (회령) are cities famous for their beautiful women since medieval, traditional times. Plus, Hweryong is sometimes considered the birthplace of the Joseon Dynasty. It was where Taejo of Joseon, Yi Seonggye, was born. Hamgyong used to be Korean territory since Goguryeo and Balhae but after their downfalls it would exist as a territory contested by its descendants (Koreans) and the Jurchens (Manchurians) that used to be foreign subjects of Goguryeo/Balhae/Goryeo.

@Joe Thompson There's a saying in Korea called '남남북녀(南男北女)' which means 'Handsome men come from the South and Beauties come from the North'. I know where you're coming from but talk shows in Korea host a lot of beautiful North Korean defectors as well with this in consideration.

@Joe Thompson I'm sorry if a Korean bullied you back in school. You seem to have a lot of anger toward Koreans. Just for the record, Chinese-Japanese-Southeast Asians contribute much to the figures of those who take plastic surgery in Korea. So it's not as widespread as you think it is amongst Koreans. Especially North Koreans.

The heaven lake of Paektu Mountain was used to wholly belonging to the Qing dynasty according to the border in 1772. In the year 1962, DPRK exchanged some land with China and got the southern half of the lake, under the administration of Ryanggang province.

Just want to say, i am the original creator of the map on timestamp 14:14 and well, it is odd to see my own artwork, for well an alternate history project. This is one of my latest artworks, before i refocussed on other hobies and interests. My alternate history wikia profile is the same name, as my youtube ,name. I don't know what to exactly say, but i feel blessed and well honoured that my artwork has been used even if for a few seconds. But i do want to say don't take my map as history, it is a work of fiction, by a guy who just used old maps and alot of free time.

I’ve noticed that you have managed to find high quality KCNA footage that is relevant to your videos. If you don’t mind me asking where does this come from? I can never find high quality footage from KCNA, let alone find specific broadcasts. Most of it is either low quality live stream rips or or a random assortment of content from web archive.

Idea: A weekly (or maybe monthly) breakdown of reports by Rodong Sinmun. I'm suggesting this because anyone interested in the DPRK from a neutral, more academic perspective should read sources like NKNews, 38North, and of course Rodong Sinmun. The problem with Rodong Sinmun though, is that as a propaganda tool it is incredibly difficult and boring to read. What I'm asking is that you suffer on our behalf so we can get those reports in a way that can actually be consumed.

You could just say BC and not BCE and being politically correct.
@iVenge
@iVenge Жыл бұрын
There is no reason to say BC. That means ‘Before Christ’, and is only used because of the Catholic Church. Modern society cleverly uses BCE - Before the Common Era, indicating that the world has agreed to go along with this dating system for purposes of commerce and clarity, but is not entirely Christian. This is also why we say CE (Common Era), and not AD (Anno Domini, Latin for ‘Year of our Lord’), because we do not all believe in any kind of Lord.
@GA-wq8xq
@GA-wq8xq Жыл бұрын
@@iVenge agree with your reasoning but my point is that BC and AD have been used for centuries and most people don’t know the abbreviations. So let’s just keep it as is since most of us agree it is 2023. Changing it a little (adding the E in BC) just seems to be political correctness for the sake of it.
