DR Backhoe Towable Backhoe Modifications
Bought the backhoe used, had it a couple years and have slowly made it work for me. Hope you enjoy.

Thank you, I tried to film the stumps being dug out but had technical issues. I also had to reroute the hoses again, a couple were being chaffed again.

Hello I’ve got a question. Could you show the tires and wheels you added instead of using the skids. My dr is a great lil unit that my wife bought me at a estate sale for a whopping $900. The skids work great on hard packed areas but I’m putting in garden lines and the soft soil really sinks the skids. I would love to see how you done the wheel conversion. Thank you.

I have just purchased a DR Backhoe and really like it. It has plenty of power and seems much faster than my ability. My only complaint is the manual stabilizers. Most of what I use this for is ditches which are less than 24" deep. It seems I spend so much time rasing and lowering the Stabilizers. I have a 6 month trial period to return it if I'm not satisfied with the backhoe. I seen another backhoe called " Dirt Master" which looks to be a carbon copy of the DR. With the exception that it has hydraulic stabilizers. The dirt master is $1,000 cheaper than the DR. But I don't know much about the Dirt Master, and would be concerned if parts are needed for it down the road. My question is, do you know anyone who has added hydraulic stabilizers to the DR. It looks to me that making that modification would be fairly easy to do.

The Dirtmaster is made by QuickWay and I believe is a reputable Manufacture that I would think would have parts for a long time. Adding hydraulic stabilizers may not be bad but my guess if the Dirtmaster is a better machine. It comes with a Honda facing the right direction, lol.

2”x2” 1/4” thick.

Seems to work great. Are you having it spit oil when you are moving around?

@heneryhawk2667 No just if it's not almost perfectly level it starves for fluid. I pulled the dipstick and it has fluid on it but there isn't a full line on it. Maybe it just needs filled up more. I can do more research.

I had a similar issue, adding oil helped the starving but cause it to leak out the vent. When I move around with the boom and do not have the rpm’s up one of the boom cylinders will suck air in, keeping the rpm’s up helps this a lot.

The Harbor Freight backhoe has gotten better reviews than the DR backhoe at less than half the price

I have not seen a HF Hoe in person but the quality of the DR would be hard to beat. I purchased mine used with all three buckets and ripper for what the HF unit would cost. If I had not found this one I would of likely purchased the Jansen unit.

@@heneryhawk2667 The DR backhoe is approx. $6800, the Harbor Freight is approx. $2700 delivered. It is a better deal for me, for home use.
