Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., joined Jemele to discuss the work and legacy of her late father and mother, Coretta Scott King. She also shares how she feels about people who sanitize and twist her father’s teachings, some of the growing pains she experienced being attached to such a massive legacy, and why she decided to follow a path to ministry, just like her father.

Loved this interview. And when she spoke at the end in legacy it made me immediately think of my son's book on leaving legacy. And as soon as she said that my son called me. I told him about this interview. Thank you again. I'm 70 yrs old. History is always evolving. I am sharing this with others. ❤

I just watched a video of Mrs. Corretta Scott King telling the stories of both Antioch College in Ohio, and New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, so also getting more information from Rev. Dr. Bernice King is also very delightful and informative 😊✌🏽❤. Also my sincere condolences to the King famiily on the recent news of Dexter's passing. I'm grateful that there is so much amazing historical information on the legacy and remarkable works of the King family. All glory and honor to God for the great things he has done 🙏🙏🙌🙌.

I am SO grateful for Ms King! Her family’s sacrifice is so abundant!!! I waved at the freedom riders in 1964 when I was 14. I tear up when I think about those times, and how Dr King and Coretta boldly stood up for all of us to enjoy what we have today! I often say, freedoms were earned in the 60’s, so what are our kids so angry about today! She is right about the ignorance today, and it seems that intelligence is bumping heads with ignorance, and ignorance is winning…😳. Ms King, I understand your frustrations, I feel it too. I for one, am truly grateful to you, your family and the richness of your heritage. My respect for the King family is so high, until I am almost nervous to be commenting on this platform so close to her. Thank you is a simple statement, but the meaning in this case is a total understatement for how I feel.

Ignorance meaning lack of knowledge…..Dr. Bernice King was just FIVE years old when her father was assassinated. Dr. MLK, Jr had such a discerning spirit to supernaturally separate fact from fiction see things others couldn’t , what a GIFT.

Thank you for raising the issue of fragmentation. We can do this by using the truthful approach of acknowledging how we have taken on the role of the oppressor in various aspects, not all. Dr. King and Mrs. King left us a blueprint. We must study and support the generation of today. 💕❤️💯🙏
