But it’s actually quite irresponsible. Because if complications happen, which is quite common, which is what happened here, he’ll not be able to work for even more number of days, which isn’t in the best interest of the patient or himself.

I don’t know why they act so shocked that he was up and about hours after his gallbladder surgery. I remember getting my gallbladder out and being sent home a few hours after I woke up. And finding out a few days later I had an infection 10 cm deep. It took months to fully heal.

I don't think they're shocked by his mobility, rather that they're shocked by his recklessness. An ED physician should know better than doing that.

I can confirm that. I'm a nurse and I was screaming to my family not to take me to ER bc of a horrendous abdominal pain .___. . Haha the worst part is that I was thinking , this could be solo fuckin serious bc of how Im showing symptoms but...at the same time I said..I wanna die at my home and my bed if this is something bad. Haha , it was nothing

I was told to take a week off after my appendectomy. It was laparoscopic, but I had a class on day 3 post op and an exam 3 days after that. As you can probably guess, I was discharged the day after the op (because my op was in the evening) and rested a whole day and a half. Fun times.

I've not watched a full episode of this programme love watching the shorts think I need to watch it all properly though. I had my gallbladder taken out in 2010 and had to rest for 2 weeks.

As a doctor, you shouldn't have any problems while conducting your duties. Because a lot of patient have to serve with and you don't have enough time for this. So you need to take a rest. If you're not going to the hospital to work, it's okay. Just stay at home and take a rest.

For laparoscopic procedures they get you home the same day, just say take it a bit easy don't lift heavy things. It is the infection and possible leakage of gall bladder that got him down. I remember my big OP, I refused pain meds because I didn't feel any pain, but there was this strange pulling sensation. I had a big incision from hip to hip and it felt like all of my guts will spill out, even thou that is not possible because all of the sutures, internal and external. That sickening feeling like you will spill out was worse than any pain I felt, not debilitating, but just so weird. Who ever can walk around without holding down the incision site for me is a biggest badass there is.

I had a laparoscopic gallbladder removal and was in the hospital for a week,couldn’t imagine standing up the day of the procedure let alone going home….yikes

@@buffya8012 O wow that sound horrible. I hope you fully recovered and all that is behind. For me they made me stand up the same day I was operated just in the evening and requested I walk a bit. Something to do with avoiding blood clots. I remember being dizzy at first, but then it passed and they made me go around my bed and go back while having pressure on my incision with my hand. No was not an option. They did the same for a lady that had a hysterectomy in the bed next to me and she was is agony :( but her operation was much more extensive than my.

I remember being told that there was leakage with mine. Wether that was because I had been dealing the gallstones for about 5 years or so or wasn’t surprised bey the infection since I have an autoimmune disease. I was surprised that the pain wasn’t that bad and over the counter painkillers helped.becausthey accidentally nicked it. I’m not sure. I

( complications from a bone marrow transplant,long story…) I remember the pain still though ,was in the hospital about a week and a half and don’t think I stood up until 3 days after my surgery and ever time I even sat up I was in agony…but it felt okay to either walk or just sit still and not move,I think I was on morphine so was okay as long as I didn’t have to move my abdomen in any way…but twenty-two years later and I still remember the pain!!!

me undergoing appendectomy and got discharged the next day and after that I continued my online classes as usual and even tried sitting until I had a seizure so I was advised to rest for a week and not attend classes 😔

ah i need to lead by example wich means treating patients and running a ward when im really not capable of doing so due to a friggin surgery. not a good role model move.almost killing myself to get the job done so i expect the same out of all of you. if he wouldn expect dr charles for example to go to work an hour after surgery he shouldnt do it himself
