The Democratic Republic of Congo is home to a tenth of the world's languages.
In the capital Kinshasa, Cocolette Collo was born a Luba, a people who come the central part of the country mainly in the troubled Kasai region.
But, she cannot speak Tshiluba. She she is fluent in Swahili, Kinyarwanda Lingala and French.
She is worried that some of the local languages will become extinct in a few years to come.

Im an African born out of Congo, but I’m a fluent Tshiluba speaker, I don’t believe that this language will be lost

I totally agree with you. I speak basic Tshiluba born out of Congo, too and learning more on youtube on a channel called Luba Classboard. The language isn't going anywhere. Noways.

What he calls 400 languages are just dialectes of nearly 10 languages.However lingala is a very powerful language used even in ivory coast by artists

DR Congo is half the size of Europe and the question is are those ''languages'' spoken by the indo- europeans dialect of each other? Is for example German a dialect of Norwegian?

I knew of Tsiluba language courtesy of the late great "Tshala Muana"! I used to wonder how come she is from Congo and i do not hear most of her songs sound like "Lingala" like the likes of Mpongo Love, Mbilia Bel, TPOK JAZZ.... which is a mixture of french! On googling is when i found out that she sings in Tsiluba and is from Kasai.....!

Elle très malade cette journaliste. Il n'aura jamais de kinyarwanda au congo qu'elle oublie ça. Le kinyarwanda ne figure nulpart dans la liste des nos langues. Et ils le seventh tres bien. It's a must for us all to let go of colonial languages and adopt our own. We do say we are independent but still colonized by language forcing we the young to learn a language not of our own . Usupi wezhimawu ninawa akulupi atutwamininanña kanda atoni chachiwayiku. Chawushona nankashi😢

Tshiluba is not going anywhere. Literally millions of people in the greater Kasai speak it as a primary language. Believe me it is very safe. Smaller dialects eith only thousands of speakers may be endangered but definitely not tshiluba.

Parents don't want to teach their kids their languages and wanna blame Europeans and the government? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am muNtandu and I speak KiNtandu just fine. It is a parents responsibility to teach their children their language and origins. Scape goat mentality blaming others cos you are too lazy to learn your own language 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

They blaming America but France is to blame. And you can't blame the parents because what's the point of teaching them a language when the kids can't use it or get bullied for using. I recommend that you read a book called when a language dies.

Some of you in the comments seem like you’re not very bright someone can learn a foreign language if they once lived in a foreign country or lived around someone who spoke a foreign language you weirdos are making it more deeper than it is not everyone or everything implies infiltré. And what does it have anything to do with Colonialism? A lot of young people in Kinshasa don’t know their mother tongue it’s a thing in Kinshasa because Lingala and French are very dominant in the society & just because you know that doesn’t make you superior lol especially if you can’t even think logically about people’s situation.
