After their deaths, attempts are made to convert them into harmless icons, to canonize them, so to say, and to hallow their names, to a certain extent, for the ‘consolation’ of the oppressed classes, and with the object of duping the latter, while, at the same time, robbing the revolutionary theory of its substance, blunting its revolutionary edge, and vulgarizing it."

Krystal & Kyle much appreciate this amazing interview with Dr. Cornell West who in my view is one of the mos profound humanists and intellectuals of our time. Humble however with conviction! What a treat, fortunate for having the opportunity, the merit to hear this man. Well done and thank you for this wonderful segment.

Much like Nina Turner, it's impossible to dislike Cornel West. The minute they open their mouths, you just have to sit back and listen. They're such powerful, motivational people with infectious enthusiasm for everything they do.

Nina Turner doesn't belong in the same sentence as Cornel West. She was a standard corporate Democrat as a state senator and a Hillary surrogate before she joined the Sanders campaign and rebranded herself as a firebrand progressive. In her current run for Congress, she hasn't backpedaled so much that I'd call her a corporatist, but she has significantly shifted to the right (partially because the progressive version of her was to the left of Sanders himself). I think she is a progressive still, but she's a politician with a long resume of doing politician-y things.

Gave me chills hearing him say stuff like this. People give Obama too much of a pass for his rhetoric and don't call him out on his policy. So much respect for Cornel.

Thanks for doing this interview... You and Krystal are the real deal. I can't help thinking about how the thing that finally made me see Randi Rhodes' true colors was when she claimed that Dr. West's criticisms of Obama were just sour grapes because he wasn't invited to the inauguration... Like he gives a damn about going to an effing inauguration!

Not allowing mismanagement to force failing companies to incorporate employee ownership to survive. Just bailing out companies too big to fail was not good leadership.

I think that early in his first term, the powerful interests behind the scenes sat Obama down and said "Guess what, Mr. President: You don't actually run shit. WE do."
@nickolasmagos2193 жыл бұрын
And that is assuming obama was not a fraud before becoming president, which is a bit hard to believe as well. Normally they prevent the good candidates from getting nominated in the primaries with a combination of bad faith attacks or just ignoring them in favor of shitty ones.

I saw warning signs with Obama from the start, because I can smell a neoliberal empty suit like him a mile away! I voted for him, but without much enthusiasm. He was the LAST neoliberal Democrat who will ever have my vote.
@dena813 жыл бұрын
I was mad from the start on his stalling with healthcare and remember telling my fellow obama supporter friend my feelings and they'd always keep excusing him. Don't say one thing and do another and here is Biden doing the same thing! And yes he's not Trump insane but are we going to ignore that he's kept and even increased some of Trump's own policies?
@leftykeys69443 жыл бұрын
@@dena81 He's as insane as Trump; he just isn't as in-your-face about it. But I see very little difference their policies. Still no healthcare system except this extortion racket Biden is hellbent on protecting; still no student debt relief, still no halfway-decent minimum wage... What's not to hate?! There is a REASON empty-suit Obama picked THIS empty suit for his VP.

You ever notice that West is always referred to as "Dr. Cornell West" but Thomas Sowell (a former Marxist) is never referred to a "Dr. Thomas Sowell," although he also holds a Ph.D.--from Harvard, no less? Makes you think.
