Finally a true and balanced perspective on singleness! We all have the ability to portray the gospel to the world regardless of marital status. Being single and pure is a startling example in a world where casual sex is the norm 🙏🏽

Amen. I was single when I got saved and have been since and I'm content. I have to keep my eyes on Christ and Ministry which for me is 24/7. If God puts someone in my life that loves Christ as much as I do than it would be the closest thing to heaven on Earth I could imagine. But for me it's purely about the heart and Christ and His kingdom , spreading the Gospel, helping the lost. Lust of the flesh will never fullfil you. #Christ alone! When we get in relationships even as Christians we are quick to put our spouses in front of Christ, or hobbies, sports etc. Phi. 4:6 is my life verse for a reason. Be anxious for nothing, all things through prayer, and the peace of God will gaurd your heart mind and soul. #Pray about it. Accept whatever God does. God bless ✝️🛐✌️☝️🙏

Afterall isn't "wanting a relationship" in itself lustful, selfish and carnal. Are we not meant to want only what God wants for us? Isn't the prayer "Thine Will Not Mine Be Done' Aren't we meant to pray what we can do for God instead of constantly asking what he can do or give to us? Pursuing fleshly desires and carnal fulfillment? Its hard enough these days to avoid compromising God word, there are more than a lot of false teachers and teachers and plenty of so called well meaning, supposed christians willing to lead you into deception...

@@jtgrace10 thats a rationalization. Lust is self centered using the word "desire" doesnt change that. "Wanting" is self centered it means getting something from someone, which is diferent than sharing, freely giving. How that could possible glorify God is not possible.

@Tony Rowan there is a lot to study, pray about and consider in Corinthians on the subject. If i recall (7-9) Paul recognises the benefits of singleness, but also of marriage; all is according to how God gifts. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion. Of course there is more - i do think we need to be extremely careful and brutally honest with ourselves and in particular our motives. I believe we have to invite and urge the Holy Spirit to enter and reveal all that is hidden in us. I believe we must pray asking for courage and mostly, we must be crucified with Christ.

@Tony Rowan a state of being given by the Holy Spirit, how a person chooses to perceive it is really irrelevant. Gift or Curse it is a gift just the same. A gift is unearned, unmerited and unrequested by definition. Wanting is of self in itself - sounds like a child not a christian adult. Stop stamping your feet trying to impose your childish views on good authentic Christians.

I will be honest the other reason is that our young Christians women won't wear proper clothes, but they wear worldly clothes which don't glorify Jesus,but their own desires.

Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Once you have him, you won’t desire marriage as an idol anymore. Yes, if God is willing I would like to get married but I don’t care lol. Amen, I believe that this is the issue with Christian single women. They look at marriage as an idol. They long for it, worship it. Singles should be desiring and longing for a relationship with Christ first and foremost and if and when God desires her a husband he will make it so.

@missNCW
@missNCW 2 жыл бұрын
@@angelistorres116 yeah blame single women. How come the both of you don’t accuse married women of idolatry but lecture single women just for wanting a husband. It’s a Godly desire - NOT idolatry. You’re just contributing to the stereotype that single women are the ignorant, less Godly Christians, who don’t know any better than to idolise marriage. No, speak for yourself. Don’t tell us what to desire or be happy with as if our God given desires are wrong. Go lecture married women
@missNCW
@missNCW 2 жыл бұрын
@@angelistorres116 marriage is not a choice between God and a husband - *stop* acting like single women chose marriage over God when they are LITERALLY waiting patiently ABSTAINING and doing their best to be Godly. And all you can do is criticise. Where’s the criticism for married women. Why do you *ASSUME* God will give us a spouse when we ‘earn’ it by focusing on Him. Is that why married women have husbands? Because they’re so Holy and we’re so sinful? No. Because God blesses people who are undeserving so your little theory doesn’t make sense. You’re just shaming women for being single and wanting a husband, because they’re not thrilled about childlessness and loneliness and sexual frustration forever. Because those are the difficulties in singleness even though you belittle it and act like marriage is not celebrated for it’s blessings - babies, sex and companionship.
@missNCW
@missNCW 2 жыл бұрын
God doesn’t call us to be full in Christ alone. He said it’s not good for Adam to be alone, but you are forcing us to stop wanting husbands. Do you expect that if married couples. No, just the single people who ALREADY are FOCUSING on God. But you judge US?! You seem to have a superiority complex. I bet both of you are married. And we’re 20 when you made these belittling comments. Because you don’t have compassion for older women who HAVE been asking for a husband and trying to be content in Christ but STILL want a husband because it’s a God given desire that you’ve turned into idolatry with your unfair judgement. Adam was given a spouse because it’s not GOOD for us to be alone, so stop requiring us to be happy alone when it’s not *BIBLICAL!!!*

But if you ‘re unhappy this is understandable, remain strong, keep praying , God will listen and bring you happiness and deliverance. Maybe through a partner maybe other ways, but sure thing is that God wants that his children have abundance life in Christ. My thought : not everybody can be single and holy and happy , only those God has chosen to be , like bible says.

Thank you for this. For the past four years, I have been called to task by many in my church's single ministry about my eligibility (to teach/lead in any capacity within the Church as well as relational) due to the circumstances surrounding a failed marriage that I had annulled. I love the church that I have been led to, the other volunteers I've been blessed to serve with, and the students that we serve and teach. I've been struggling with how to present to my students (HS guys) how God is always faithful when these allegations are being spread around, brought back up...and each time they are, it's like reopening those wounds through the scar tissue. I am not happy with the way things are in my singleness (the false accusations, gossip, expanded budget for counseling, etc.), but despite that His love is sufficient (which is where I still find hope which leads to joy). My singleness has many times shown His forgiveness and healing, but I still wrestle with trusting Him when it is those that are supposed to be His body and representatives view me and my current state as somebody/something to be pitied and avoided. This is not how He called us to love one another. The past few years have shown me that the modern Church is more at risk of idolizing singleness as a symbol of pure and holy living instead of trusting Him. My apologies for the rant, but we as His representatives need to be cautious of allow a "pendulum swing" reactionary response to those that make marriage an idol (which I'll confess I sometimes do).

Why do married Christians always preach messages about "it's OK to be a single Christian, being single is the higher calling, don't hunger for getting married" etc. I'm a single Christian and I hate it. I want a partner, and yes I want sex too. Is that such a terrible thing? It is so frustrating. Yes my life is complete with God but, oh boy, my life would be so much more complete if I had a wife as well. Now I'll get lots of replies saying stuff like 'oh seek first his kingdom' and 'always put God first'. Well I do, but I'm still damn frustrated!!

This spirit is active and men seeking relationships may be blinded by thier desire. This spirit is active in churches, bible studies and everywhere else. I assume you are Christian, if not then this isn't for you. Felipe, dear brother in Christ. Accept what I say not as harsh, unless necessary, but as a firm, gentle exhortation. You do not have the privilege of saying what kind of man you are. The ONLY One who has the right to define you is your Creator. Who are you, creation, to go against God's word? You are: Capable: 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 Fully Equipped: 1 Corinthians 1:2-6 Valuable, Accepted, Chosen: 1 Peter 2:9; Matthew 6:26; John 15:16 Are you going to look to yourself, or to God's word? You don't have the right either, to accept that you aren't the kind of man the Bible teaches one ought to be. When you are commanded, you are to do it. I haven't even met you brother and I know that you are fully equipped for this battle. God's word has told me so. I know you are a new creation and being transformed into the very image of Christ. Stop. Stop saying you are something the Bible does not tell you that you are. You are a man of God if you are a Christian, so start acting like one. Start acting like who you are. I genuinely believe in you, I have to. And so shall anyone who has any respect for God’s word. You are not defined by struggles of your former ignorance (meaning anything you were before you met Christ) that is NOT who you are. He gave you a new identity, Praise God! You already have claimed to have this identity if you call yourself a Christian, contradiction is an ugly color. Side note: I truly appreciate you honesty, really I do. This isn’t a rebuke but just advice: What you put up here on the Internet is here forever; don’t tell the whole Internet world about your struggles, it could come back bad. And take this from me as a girl; most guys I have been interested in had absolutely no idea. So stop feeling sorry for yourself and start getting very picky about what girl you want. She will either be heaven or hell on the day you say, “I do”.

There are singles who have a special gift where they are able to live with no desire for sex and marriage, but want to live solely for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven! But there are also single people who do not have this special gifting, but who nonetheless are unable to engage with members of the opposite sex because of emotional or psychological problems that prohibit them from being able to be married. They want to be married but cannot. They must remain celibate regardless of not having the gift the first group has. So I'm sure this is the more difficult path. But if that is where you are embrace it and use the freedom you have to serve the Lord, but also to travel, develop hobbies, try new adventures, and enjoy your time. Your money is yours to do with it what you want. Just accept what your state is, and don't worry about finding a spouse. Not having sex is not the worst thing that can happen to you!

I do find it interesting, and believe part of the difficulty, from I've seen is that there is a growing movement within society that is determined to undermine religion and relegate God to nonexistence. Maybe this has always been the case but it has become more and more obvious to me. The further people get from God, the more absent he seems. One of my biggest problems with organized religion of any denomination is the apparent contradictions and hypocrisy. Pastors and priests and rabbi's etc who do not practice what they preach, who all appear to be about the money and entertainment and filling stadium sized seating venues. Dr. David Platt is an excellent example, he has a brilliant mind, is an excellent teacher but he doesnt practice what he preaches. I dont believe you would catch Christ in such a church if he returned today. He'd be in a smaller more private, more intimate venue, a struggling church, with a struggling flock, in a storefront of in a home among His devoted. The funny thing about Gifts from God or The Holy Spirit, Gifts like singleness, or prophecy or talking in tongues is that they dont feel like Gifts, they dont seem to get us what we want from them, which is why we must die to the flesh before receiving them. Far to many people, Christians (so called) go along their way imposing their will upon God, praying for what they want and getting mad when they dont get it. The Lords Prayer tells us in its conclusion "Thine Will, Not Mine Be Done". We decide what we want, we convince ourselves that must be what God wants for us and we go about all our efforts to push and shove others to get it. SELF WILL vs God's Will. More and more this is the case, if you cant have a a baby, if you cant find a spouse, if you dont like the spouse youve got. People are willing to cause themselves all kinds of pain to get their way, to get that child to get that partner, to fill that God shaped hole. So instead of praying to get, pray to offer yourself. This made a huge difference in my life. God I offer myself to thee...send me Lord, use me, crucify me so that I may be made empty, buried and resurrected as that new man, that new ceation. Help me to want for myself only what you would want for me. Help me to reject the demands of self and my ego.

I might have missed it but it seems like he begins with one message and quickly picks up another. I can agree that singleness is good, and marriage is good, but he begins with a stark decline of marriages since 100 years ago. Singleness is a gift, but is this common adult singleness a symptom of some warped society?

Whether you are married or not, natural marriage is not the holy marriage of God. There is a natural body and a spiritual body. The natural body is the body of sin. The spiritual body is the holy body of the church and Christ is the head. So to apply the doctrine of marriage, we apply it spiritually, not according to the flesh. The reason why mankind has a controversy over marriage rights and gender equality and identity is because most everyone, including the majority of "christians," havr minds after the flesh and not after the spirit. When you read the gender roles of the bible in the flesh, you try to answer it with the flesh. And because the natural fleshly body can only sin, all marriages in the flesh are sin. But if you read the bible in spirit, then you answer the roles of gender and marriage in the spiritual body. So the new man is Christ, and his bride is the Church, the souls of his believers. The only holy marriage that exists is the one between Christ and the church. And we inherit all that he is, including his flesh and earthly body. So being united to him in spirit through this most holy betrothal, the two become one flesh. Christ IS our life. And this natural body dies so that we can gain all things in Him. So any time you read the bible, try to see the role of male or husbands as Christ, and the role of female or wives as the members of the church. So we, being the wife of Christ, will be silent in His wisdom, Christ being our head will speak on our behalf. But we support all that he edifies because he is Truth. Likewise, we keep our heads covered, because being the woman of Christ, our head covering is our glory. And because Christ is our glory, He alone is our head covering! The most common head covering a bride wears is a veil. That is why the bible refers to Christ's body as a veil. It is the veil through which God our father now sees us. And being joined to his holy Son in his marriage, we are the children of God through that adoption. This all makes sense when you read it in the spiritual context of the truth revealed to us through the word.

Adam was created by God as a normal man with human failures , Jesus was sent from God on earth to accomplish a mission as perfect man and perfect God. Jesus didn’t come to satisfy his desires, but to do God’s will, be a perfect man free of sin, preach the gospel and finally dying on the cross. We can compare Adam to Jesus only in the perspective that the first one leaded us to death and the second one to life . Spiritually speaking. But bible tells us that spirit lasts, and flesh doesn’t.

P.S. I’m married and I have two children, and a “perfect” normal life, but I still am hungry and thirsty of God , of Jesus , of the Holy Spirit... I sometimes think that I maybe love Jesus more than I love my husband (and we two have a great intimacy ) and this is only by the grace of God. I hope that I will put God’s reign and will before my own life. And that is by the power of God. I want to be obedient to the gospel and follow Jesus Christ in my life, Lord help me to accomplish your will in my life. My point ist that marriage doesn’t fulfill entirely my life, Jesus does. Why are married people the only ones “allowed” to have sex?? Married people have sex for lustful reasons not just to procreate. In most of my encounters, the marrieds act as tho they are better than the singles and love to rub in my face what I am missing and how amazing the sex is. WTH??? Also kind of hard to hear a message about this from a married person. Double standard and married people look down and have pity on singles. It makes me feel less of a person as if no one could love me enough to marry me like Hahahhaa you are a defect or something. My job kept me traveling a lot not much time to settle down. One guy was abusive. So I’m not allowed to enjoy the touch and pleasure from a man because that is reserved for the elitist marrieds. Sounds like discrimination to me.

Is sex a carnal or spiritual desire is the question?
@SpiritOfOrange
@SpiritOfOrange 3 жыл бұрын
You may find it hard to hear a message such as ‘singleness is a good gift’ being delivered from a married person, but what if they are speaking from experience in addition to what Paul the apostle proclaimed? Do you have a preconception that most married people are having the best intimate relationship with their spouse every single day that they exist? If so, it may shock you that it’s not always the case. Indeed, there are many married pastors who are accused of paying lip service to singles who want to be married and some of those pastors may come across as disingenuous, others are speaking from their years of being married and then having a ‘eureka’ moment on realising that there are downsides to being in a committed relationship with a fellow sinner.

istvanski no I don’t believe all is rainbows in married land. I have had the experiences of being looked down on for being single. My question is why married people (happy or not) are allowed to have sex (carnal or spiritual desires, as mentioned by fbzzzy above) & a single person is not? What if I’m in a committed, loving & monogamous relationship?
@SpiritOfOrange
@SpiritOfOrange 3 жыл бұрын
denise331 I’m sorry that you’ve been looked down upon by married folk just because of your single status. It’s inexcusable. Why do some individuals do that? Perhaps it’s down to their own insecurities? There has been a church culture of promoting marriage and family pursuits in favour of catering to singles & I’ve read many comments from singles complaining about singles groups and singles’ ministries for a variety of reasons. This situation needs to change. It’s ok for singles to have desires for intimacy. I believe most of us have these desires and God will not punish us for having these desires as they may well be an indicator that the gift of singleness may not be for the individual experiencing those desires (apologies for sounding obvious at this point). Knowing how to control and execute these desires is the issue here. As you are aware, the Bible explains that sexual relationships are to be kept within the confines of one man and one woman who are both married to each other. Extra marital affairs are forbidden due to the possible psychological harm that may ensue. Even masturbation is forbidden as such an act may develop into a habit, which may leave the onanist feeling emotionally empty and de-sensitised to the prospect of having real sex with a loving partner (spouse). Marriage is a serious, God ordained institution, alas it has also become an institution which the state (government) has meddled with, partly resulting in the ever growing rates of divorce. Biblically speaking there are three reasons permitting a marriage to end; adultery, abandonment and death. Most governments have decided to include many other reasons permitting divorce which has mocked the sanctity of marriage. Apologies for wavering slightly off topic in my last paragraph, but this was intended to highlight the spiritual importance of marriage. In conclusion, God should be at the centre of a marriage, and He does not prohibit the execution of those desires within a marriage however, acting on those desires outside of a marriage results in emotionally painful sin.

Still these people are not alone. They have friends, family, and pets. This is not the bible contracting itself. It's common sense.
