Wow, I didn't realize this was the Underboss remix. I heard it playing on overhead speakers and couldn't make it out and thought it was someone sampling the song and putting beats over it. Maybe the object is not to try to improve something but just to present it differently. It would be like one museum displaying the Mona Lisa vs the first one to ever do it. Maybe it's just an honor to be able to present it within their walls. I actually enjoy this version as well.

It could be that he does not want to take away from the song by adding his own elements. I remember reading that a producer named "Green Lantern" saying he didn't play on his remix for Mary Jane by Rick James. There are different elements on that mix but they may only have been samples of the song's different instruments programmed to play along at different points of the song. Dre's focus was more on mixing the song's tracks with little additional elements such as the drums and claps playing along.
