Its crazy to think that just 2 or 3 years ago Dre was in hospital fighting for his life after an anuerism. I had actually forgotten about it until just now when it hit me how fantastic fit and healthy he's looking! This is amazing and a well earned honour. Dre's fingers have been in many of the waves that have shaped the sound of our music and even in ways part of our societies for 40 years!!! This man is a genius and an icon.

My elder brother made me listen to his music at a very young age and I got to realize he tried to unite all the west coast rap artists, making the city of Compton a force to reckon with lyrically. I’m so happy for him!! I was there when hip hop was forming, I saw the different artist from the different parts of the world. When I saw the beast of NWA, that changed my life. The production and business talent of Dre and the lyrical contribution of Ice Cube made the creation of a guy who wasn’t even trying to be a rapper possible, Eazy E was one of the first examples that he could spot talent. If you look at the catalogues of Eazy E, Snoop, 50, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar alone, that is enough content to entertain you for years,the dude is a mad scientist in production and beats. You know a Dre beat when you hear it. I’m so glad he is getting this while he is still alive, we almost lost this man a few years ago and I’m so glad he bounced back and is still here supporting up and coming artists. I love to see the originators welcome the new ones and not feel threatened by them or the need to diss them ,like some of them often feel the need to do. After his Super Bowl performance too was genius + helped get back all they had lost (In this generation, helping get younger fans to get into the style of hip-hop), getting Anderson Paak too to help on drums, the Contract in GTA too, allowing his music into the biggest game for consoles etc... I love grand master flash and Metallica... run DMC and Aerosmith opened up a whole new world for me... but Dre is a true legend and I still jam to my hip hop roots (when I’m not banging my head, Lol)... I am 50 and grew up in the BEST time... where my favorite musical worlds collided and it was phenomenal!!!
