Critical appraisal of the current state-of-the-art is crucial in academia.
As academics and researchers, we need to understand the challenges and gaps in the existing body of knowledge.
I get it. Sometimes we see the literature review as the last thing we want to do - after all there's so much interesting research to be done so why should we waste time on reviewing the literature?
It is tempting, therefore, to copy-paste from the existing literature or to use paraphrasing tools to just get this review done. Right?
But this is the largest issue in academia. If you use the above, you may not only be committing plagiarism, but you're compromising your understanding of your field.
