Honestly, I love the tonal whiplash that Mundo has in his lore. Much like the Pyro from TF2 you get two different perspectives that actually offer a decent amount of depth and introspection into his story. One side is a terrifying horrific entity that slaughters pretty much indiscriminately, but those are a dime a dozen in fiction, and not at all unusual for League of Legends. But then you find out that he's doing it not out of hunger. Not out of sadism, or wickedness, or some greater purpose, or even out of malice. He's doing it because he genuinely believes that he's trying to help people, and that's even more terrifying while being sad and awful and darkly funny all at once. You couldn't pull that off on a character like Aatrox without it seeming facetious, or on a Noxian without it seeming fanatical or a Demacian without it seeming like they're corrupted. Even Shadow Isles characters couldn't be used to give that idea any weight. You see the lumbering clumsy doofus in the ripped straitjacket, claiming he's a doctor, and you laugh. Then you find out what made him this way, and you feel awful for laughing. Then you see the bonesaw and you realize you should not have been laughing, you should have been running, because being killed by something innocent and friendly is so much more fundamentally disturbing than being killed by something that's blatantly evil. And the more silly and goofy the killer, the more disturbing it becomes. It has the same effect as Pyrovision from TF2 - to everyone else, they're a complete psychopath who revels in butchery. To Mundo, he's a struggling doctor who just wants to help. And to the viewer/reader, who sees both sides, it's worthy of pity, tragedy, horror, and comedy all at the same time.

You can literally feel the love you have for Mundo, and it's entirely justified, because it's freaking Mundo

This is random but I've wanted so badly for season two of arcane to have ekko wander into the asylum where Mundo is and it go for a cinematic horror movie type feel as ekko searches for scrap and the tension builds as we see bonesaws and broken pencils and clipboards with misspelled diagnosis only for Mundo to chase ekko through the asylum just being charming, hilarious and horrifying, do it riot, you cowards. Fun addition maybe one of silco's chem barons is the one that handed over Mundo he could be an early attempt at making a permanent shimmer super Soldier like what silco did to that kid but it failed and they locked the result away in the asylum

I think the tonal whiplash is actually brilliant personally, which might sound weird but here me out: Its all to do with outside world views vs internal views of mundo, we view mundo as goofy, because we aren't in league, but in the universe? man is a terrifying serial killer who just brutally maims people while laughing, hes like the mask comics in how his actions are horrific when you see them in universe, but funny outside, and makes a fantastic contrast to the fact he thinks hes a doctor, he thinks hes lighthearted. Thats why I don't think the bio is a tonal whiplash, it actually adds further to the story of how fucked up mundo is.

I gotta say my favourite line from Mundo is, "Who is Mundo to play god? Ah, MUNDO!!!"

His corporate skin is also absolutely top notch. Literally ever since his vgu I think I've used 1 other skin once, and all the over 100 times I've played him I've used corporate Mundo

A skin I’d like for Mundo would just be a regular surgeon outfit. Basic, but I can imagine the splash art having the same vibe as that Mr. Bean meme where he’s in surgeon scrubs with the mask pulled down giving the patient a thumbs up, mixed with the dentist scene from that episode of BTAS with Joker, Harley, and Commissioner Gordon (if you need a skinline just make Evelyn the surgeon assistant. Who wouldn’t want sexy nurse Evelyn?). Plus the skin could be called Dr. Dr. Mundo, and I think that’s funny.

Corporate Yorick, with the Maiden as his secretary and his ghouls stuffed in white-collar suits. His E throws money at the enemy which causes the ghouls to jump after them and W summons cubicle walls.

I think the way Riot made Mundo's rework is very fitting. It represents Mundo, his backstory, and his behavior after his mutation as if you are Mundo. Mundo thinks he is a great doctor, but acts all goofy as a person's first impression. However if you are near Mundo for too long, the horror and tragedy of his character is revealed. A newer Mundo player will think he's just a goofy character, but when they dive into his lore and discover how messed up he is... it's terrifying. Mundo, I feel is a great representation of subservation of expectations.

We need a Hand Mundo little legend and we need it now

I just love everything about mundo so mucho, such a fun character in every way. Its one of the few champs i actually enjoy hearing his voice lines and just brings me joy in general.

The thing you said about them trying to be cool in the new icon is so true, and its the same for some other champions that get represented very differently outside of League, like Vi with noodle arms or pretty boy Thresh. Riot (and tbh most other gaming companies) put a lot of emphasis on just making characters pretty or cool-looking because "hey, thats gonna sell for the most surface level audience", even if that misrepresents the characters themes. Its kinda sad seeing such a fixation on beauty (im not even talking about making characters ugly, just about making them not be hot models). Its even weirder because that cool and that pretty they aim for is THE MOST basic standard for coolness and beauty (as if muscled Vi and older Thresh weren't hot as hell) as if deviating from it would make the character ugly.

personally if they make a corporate skinline I want Taliyah to be Mundo's assistant and the only human in the bunch. the reason I want Taliyah is when I first saw the corporate Mundo splash are I though the girl in the back looked a bit like Taliyah, also the image of Taliyah's ult being piles of documents and other office items instead of rocks is funny to me.

Great video. On the topic of the absurdly long time since Mundo's last skin. There actually were champs that waited longer than Mundo for a Skin. Yorick waited 7 years for a skin and he literally only had his release skins for that time. Shen waited for 6 years (7 if you ignore the esport skin that Riot had to do cuz the winners chose it).

Mundo's tone is pretty similar to that of Murder Drones - legitimately scary body horror interrupted by slapstick comedy, and yet it somehow works.

The first skin I ever got (in my wrong region account :c) was Ejecutive mundo, I LOVEEEEEEEEED that skin. I started playing Mundo for that skin, and I probably buy it one day in my current account just to listen to his voice lines once again

I still very much enjoy the fact that amidst this ocean of new champions that need to be hyper complex, 37 dashes, a twitlonger passive that gives them a cocktail and a shoulder massage every time they recall after having used their W on exactly 2 caster minions, and either no shirt if they're a man or the exact same face if they're a woman, it's VERY refreshing to see how simple Mundo's kit is. For Mundo passive, Mundo regen HP gooder and block CC and can pick up bag from ground. Mundo press Q, Mundo throw cleaver. Mundo press W, Mundo zap people. Mundo press E, Mundo hit big hard. Mundo press R, Mundo HP get big number real good. The simplicity of the kit and how effective it is honestly puts my mind at ease because if I want to remember how to fight someone like Akshan, I have to remember the 20 different passive effects he has. If I want to fight Aphelios, I have to be like that one Corki that Darkmane fought and be a Harvard graduate. If I want to remember how to fight Mundo, me dodge cleaver, me build Grievous Wounds, me win.

I disagree with the mundo soundtrack, i think its really really good. It captures a double sided personality where its got a really terrifying overall ambiance, but if you listen to the whole thing, theres some wacky and playful instrumentional stuff, which to me shows the dicotomy between whats happens in real life and whats happening in his head

Then, when they said that they are reworking him, I held off because I was sceptical if it was going to be good or not. Then when they released the trailer for him, I redeemed it because GOD DAMMIT he has a big blocky phone, says "stonks", drives a silly car and when he last hits with E HE SENDS THE ENEMY DRIVING AWAY IN THE SUNSET WTF??? I think Mundo would fit pretty well into the Astronaut/Space Groove or Gothic/Fright Night skin lines. They would have a lot of options with both these two different general themes imo. And I fully agree on the Corporate take! We need Corporate Gnar I tell you! Gnar is the perfect personification of a fed up 9-5 office worker.

Something I wish you mentioned: His current Lore was actually changed, I think. I belive the Chem-Barron he was working for became Renata Glasc. Which obviously means he didn't kill her, she must've escapted. Also, I know you've mentioned Riot doing a Corprate skinline before, but let me remind you; Corprate Mundo is already in a skinline called 'Dayjob', which has a really similar concept.

On the Corporate skins idea, 10/10 absolutely should be a thing. But like what about having Belveth as the rival Corporation to play the straight man to the comedy of Mundo and just have her actually competent and good at her job yet always still losing to Mundo because Mundo is best Ceo. Data Entry Brand, flames are replaced with papers. Mailroom Skarner, Crystals replaced with like Mailboxes and packages. H/R Aatrox..like it writes itself and I would literally set my wallet on fire for all of this.

We need more videos besides champions reviews and skins lines….. we need champion rewinds, tier lists, etc

I think certain parts were meant to be the way they are (regarding the story and theme of Mundo). Like not being descriptive about his torture. Mundo doesn't remember it. Hence it's missing. As for his theme, I like to think it tries to symbolize the feeling of a person who sees him/his victim. It's a weird mix of showing Mundo to a player through his own eyes and through eyes of someone who sees him in person. I might be reading too much into it tho. It might as well be as you say it is. Just a bunch of ppl with different visions for a character
