UPDATE! They're starting to release patches to the game! So I've marked the video as outdated just in case some of these aspects or the video ENTIRELY are no longer relevant. One may ask, PEKO! Why is this a good thing? I didn't make this video for clicks, i made it because i want to play a good ass game. So lets remain positive, and hope more patches release.

I have two major complaints for ring racers. 1. even on easy mode, the game is incredibly unforgiving for people who don't eat, sleep and BLEED kart racing. 2. Why is everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) locked at the start? this ain't smash bros.

The game feels like it was made by Dr. Robotnik himself.

I agree whole game is a mess... And I have solid 500h clocked in in SRB2Kart... 1. I hate the stupidity of rings 2. The whole "oh if you are not fast enough you are not getting up this slope" is annoying as fuck. 3. The the "spin dash" is useless and annoying to use 4. Why the hell they even introduce the "tricks"?! 5. Too many "effects", jumps, it's a clusterfuck. 6. WE DID NOT NEED MORE THINGS THAT JUST BOUNCE US AROUND THE MAP...

honestly I’m not so against the idea of finding spray cans but they fucking put them in the most out of the way places, and with how aggressive these cpus are in this game forget trying to collect them during normal gamo

I was watching this with only my right-side earbud and I couldn't hear your voice at all. I assumed that the visual of the video was meant to speak for itself. And then I turned on Closed Captions

I'm gonna wait on this game until some of it's biggest problems with the gameplay aspect have been addressed and polished.

Other than "Lite Steering" being turned on by default (apparently with this you have to press DOWN to make sharper turns), the gameplay itself is mostly fine. The ranking system however can go to hell. Went out of my way to get a near perfect score as Mighty so I could unlock Ray but I ended up needing 9 continues because the CPUs keep inexplicably whacking me back to last place at random times; got A rank on all tracks, final rank was still C because of the continues. Midair tricks are handled in the most counterintuitive and confusing way possible, sometimes you just want to reorient your Kart in midair to see better by reflex, but it ends up flinging you in the wrong direction. Especially on the special stages, this is horrendous. And speaking of the special stages... They're damn near impossible to beat. Even the first two ones. It feels like this game goes out of its way to be frustrating.

I think it's fine to lock things sometimes but this is WAY too much and you should at least be able to have the option to skip all or part of the tutorial and like you said I feel a lot of things for example: the melee attack is just unnecessary. Also I heard something about them refusing to change the gameplay which if true is pretty bad. And yes the colors are locked at the beginning which is really stupid.

I've never played srb2, but I just wanna say that I LOVE the mechanics of this game. There's too many things to put in a KZfaq comment, but I really love the way this game implements shortcuts. There's a lot to learn for the controls, but I think the game is better for it. If this game was just an extended version of the tutorial, I'd play it and love it. The only thing I've found that's a bit annoying is having rings and using an item on the same button. There's a ton of times especially while front running where there's no items in the pool that help you increase your lead, and you can't even use rings without wasting your item. It feels like the game kinda punishes you for being in first.

i like the actual races of the game tbh. they feel fun to go through. however the absurd amount of unlockables was such a turn off that i hex edited the save data to have all unlockables already unlocked. and the tutorial is really the biggest complaint i have. the feature bloat is a big concern. but it becomes muscle memory after awhile. however, the melee attack does not need to exist. i literally never use it. like it's so slow and basically loses your spot for a meaningless hit that barely reaches. you're better off just drifting or using your rings to speed up. like if it was only stages and characters, i wouldn't complain too much about the unlockables but literally 90% of the game being locked behind clear conditions is crazy. especially for a game that mainly only adults with jobs will be playing. they don't have the time to unlock all of that. however i will give it one thing over its predecessor, i like the cups. i always wanted to race alone and not just play time attack exclusively. imo if they just readjust some of the unlocks to be started with features and address the feature bloat, it can probably become a really good game. at it's current state, i find it a pretty decent game. just way too confusing for an average audience.

I don't really like the UFO Catcher stages right now, and I also hate how the "Jawz" power up is worse in this game because it sometimes circles around the target it's suppose to hit.

Players shouldn't have to use special codes to unlock basic features. Mario Kart doesn't lock all of it's content away and doesn't require a 30+ minute tutorial. No respect for the player's time.

I guess it's safe to say that _Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers_ is the _Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II_ of kart racers.

I'll still give this game a shot and see how it goes.

I haven’t even played it yet (I always sucked at Kart so I was only semi-interested in trying this out even at first), but the biggest issues so far seem to be feature-creep and not understanding their audience. Like, the singleplayer emphasis is interesting, but the haphazard new mechanics mostly just overcomplicate a game that was already a bit intimidating for some casual players. And all the unlockable stuff uses a design that is aimed at either folks with tons of free time (kids playing Smash) or veterans/enthusiasts who are willing to actually grind out the challenges. I can appreciate how “cool” it sounds on paper, but it’s absolutely the wrong decision for a genre so focused on multiplayer.

I liked the tutorial and thought all the new mechanics were fun and interesting, and I was impressed with how much worked went into the whole experience. Then I tried using them in an actual race…

Maybe there needs to be more of a balance with the unlockables and such. I think it'll be fun finding little secrets hidden around tracks to find and pick up. Not entirely sure if I like the colours being locked behind that, and I don't know how hard/how long it'd take. I definitely need. to play more of the game first because I've only done two races after the tutorial. I like a bunch of the new abilities and they seem fun! The trick system will take a bit of getting used to, like the timing, but hopefully that doesn't separate the intermediate/pro players too much. Love the story elements and how colours are linked to a special invention of Eggman's, that was really cool, and the little quips that Eggman has. I'm not sure if the melee attack will be used much seeing as you have to ditch your rings first (though there seems to be enough around), so it takes a bit to engage it but I'll get used to how often to use my rings. Keen to see how the rest of the game goes and what online is like as well! There's definitely a *heap* of love put into this

At least the devs added a code to unlock almost anything.

There comes a point in development where you gotta make the decisions to cut things. It feels like they skipped that step entirely and added more stuff they thought would be cool without thinking about how it would fit with the stuff already there. It's also like they expect everyone playing to already be a master and it doesn't pull any punches. Hard pass from me. Great video!

Can someone give me a step by step tutorial on how to download dr robotnik's ring racers I've had trouble doing so

To be fully honest, I actually really like this game, but you have made a couple valid points. Mods, online and time trials should not be unlockables. The tutorial is pretty obnoxious, that melee attack did not need to exist and the tricks are very poorly designed. However, the gameplay issues that seem extremely prevalent in the tutorial are nowhere near as aggressive ingame. I actually like that this game has unlockables as it encourages people who don't have a background in kart to play it more and get competent at it. Having characters be unlockable is pretty fun but colours shouldn't be unlockable. I also like that this game has some pretty fun singleplayer content that SRB2 Kart was missing. Hopefully Kart Krew fixes the issues with the unlockables as well as trimming the tutorial. I'm pretty optimistic that they will as they have already made time trials, mods, and online easier to get, though, they still aren't free from the beginning as they should be.

I love that after an update, the tutorial constantly screams about skipping it. Like: hey, you. Yeah, stupid over there, here's how not to play the tutorial. Great dev team. And that intro, was it even skippable in the inital release, "unlocking" the options? I like a game I can just fresh install and get on with it; I hate all this meta-progression noise. As if we weren't already swamped in that muck with mainstream games.

The basic features are easy to unlock though, just beat the first cup or skip the tutorial, which is easier now. I feel like this argument falls flat when you unlock many features super early into the game. You make it sound like you'll have to spend decades grinding for basic features which is just not the case.

I'm gonna be honest, Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers will *NEVER* Be as close of an easy to pick up game as SRB2K, I myself don't see it as a Sequel or a V2 of it, but moreso a completely different game Even worse, When I saw the tutorial being a *MANDATORY* thing unlike other games being "yeah you can skip the tutorial if you've already played before", I just lost all excitement and uh, yeah, just didn't continue playing the game Oh yeah and the fact everything is Locked behind Progression Walls is just a huuuuuge signal of this game being, straight up, *Not Worth My Time* I do want to see whenever they update it to make this better, mainly performance and less progression required unlocks, maybe even just doing a whole overhaul to make things just like SRB2K and not a Completely New Game However, Credit where Credit is due, visually and musically the game rocks, it's something I would never expect even from Addons, it's just massively awesome Nevertheless I think, as a whole, the game tries to be it's own thing so hard it fails to keep the main motivation oh and SRB2K Progression >>>> Ring Races Progression Will probably play the game again but only after enough updates happen that change things I couldn't enjoy

I think having to unlock everything is a good thing. Why would I even play the game if everything is unlocked already? The game is great. I'm enjoying it a lot.

My opinion is,its so much for so little,the colors fuckin suck to find,the gimkicks,i dont care so much,its realy fun sometimes,the tutorial is ok for me,i like it,the unlockables are a little bad,but its something(im the type of person ho likes so many unlockables)but the pets are awesome,the time trail and modes? Theres a .txt that haves all the codes tha unlock the things,if you reading this? Have a good day :)

"The tutorial takes too long" or did YOU take tok long??? Plus if you're smart enough to know about Addons and how to use them,you will easily find that theres a Password to unlock it... Same with online, and you can even skip the tutorial too with abother code... Plus complaining that "Oh no I need to unlock the colours" sounds just like searching problems where there aren't, and I bet that in a week or less, the 100% Save data will be released by people and will be really easy to get, or even an addon.
