Thank you very much for that this interview of a humble and personable top cardiologist. His attitude is a far cry from the ‘God complex’ fancifully depicted in the film Malice where Alec Baldwin plays a surgeon with messianic delusions. I recently spent 4 hours in a Swiss hospital having cardiac tests and was very grateful for the care I received. I was surprised to hear that the US spends considerably more on healthcare than the UK. In Switzerland it is mandatory to pay for health insurance which can range in between 300 to over 1000 francs per month if one pays for private care. If this sounds very capitalistic it is not so because the government provides subsidies for low income families and thus it is a mixture of a welfare state and a a capitalist system and the quality of care is very high. A friend of mine teaches physics at La Sorbonne in Paris and accepts paying a high % of his salary in taxes fir the French well fare system. As an American I hope that my country will adopt a so-called universal health care system so that all citizens will be able to benefit from quality care…the Martians will have to be placed on waiting lists and given X file videos to bide their time.

People want to see doctors as Gods , according to them , they are not ordinary humans , that's why they don't want to hear their honest stories in their career , Just like religious people , according to them prophets don't make mistakes. My children don't want to hear about my miserable childhood , i am their mom , their role model , my life must have been perfect from the day i was born What i found out , that some people are destined and should be perfect , no flaws , because they serve others I also think that is selfish , we should put ourselves in their shoes , we will see things different , even with their flaws we should respect their struggle in life . I noticed that doctors and moms have something in common , no true sympathy towards them . Why is that ! Maybe because their serving role is not replaceable .
