The Lorax (2012) SYNOPSIS: Twelve-year-old Ted (Zac Efron) lives in a place virtually devoid of nature; no flowers or trees grow in the town of Thneedville. Ted would very much like to win the heart of Audrey (Taylor Swift), the girl of his dreams, but to do this, he must find that which she most desires: a Truffula tree. To get it, Ted delves into the story of the Lorax (Danny DeVito), once the gruff guardian of the forest, and the Once-ler (Ed Helms), who let greed overtake his respect for nature.

Don't you know? If we don't have a cliche villain, the audience won't know who to hate. The original Lorax having no clear cut bad guy is apparently too nuanced for modern audiences.

I went to showing of suessical and they were playing the Lorax soundtrack, and when this song played, I was silent, I waited till the time was ripe. And then, at the top of my voice, I shouted “YOU GREEDY DIRTBAG”. We were promptly kicked out.

I first saw this movie (in passing, I've never watched it) this christmas, and I assumed it had just come out which was why it was memed about. In retrospect I guess its airing over christmas prompted the relatively new movie-based memescape to adopt it.

If they make a 3D Grinch, watch it be about the horrors of Capitalism because they can't seem to keep their political ideologies out of these movies anymore. They turned the Lorax from a cautionary tale of expanding things too quickly into.... Anti-Business? Seems as though the Onceler is far less sympathetic in this one than the old cartoon. Also doesn't help that they had to add an evil business owner on top of him because even they realized they couldn't turn the Onceler into a straight up villain so they had to create one.

They took out the part where the Once-ler breaks board up window and actually looks out the window for the first time in years. With tears in his eyes, knowing that Ted succeeded his mission, he smiles and whispers, “Thank you, Ted”. That was my favourite part of the movie. Because this film did something, not even Dr. Seuss himself has done. They gave the Once-ler redemption. Where after all those years of regret and self loathing, the Once-ler can make peace with his past, because for once in his life he actually has done something good.

Despite me never thinking that singing can make problems go away and actually make a difference in the way things are like this, I recently learned about the singing revolution (yes this is a real thing) a series of events that took place in the Soviet occupied Baltic states. It involved the civilians of occupied Lithuania 🇱🇹, Latvia 🇱🇻, and Estonia 🇪🇪 advocating for their independence through singing in their native languages and eventually forming a human chain across all three countries. In the end, the Singing Revolution ended in their victory and they all gained independence in 1990/91 and when I first learned about it, my mind came right back to this song and how they beat back O’hare from destroying the seed through their singing. THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS WIN 💪💪

LADY'S AND GENTLEMAN, BOYS AND GIRLS. I HAVE MADE A DISCOVERY we all know Wesley he kinda glows but why that is what I am here to explain. So this movie is made by illumination and what else is made by illumination? Despicable me is made by illumination and what happens in that movie? A minion glows but how? Well in the scene where gru steals the shrink ray he needs a source of light so he grabs a minion shanks him, bends him and then he glows just like a glow stick. I think that Wesley's mum and dad tried this very thing after seeing despicable me and it worked but the problem is in despicable me it's not explained how to stop the glowing so now Wesley is glowing for the rest of his life.

they need to make more modern Dr.Seuss movies because they really do teach good lessons for the Lorax it was basically a long lesson on the consequences of our actions and the effect they can have
