There is a reason for animosity between Mr.Ambadkar and Gandhi ji. Mr.Tharoor missed out an important chapter about Mr. Ambdkar that he wanted to convert into Siekhism but Gandhi ji was threatened by his decision and went to great lengths to put a stop to it. “When the news was brought to "Gandhi", that Dr. Ambedkar and his friends have decided to convert to Sikhism then Gandhi was shocked. He wrote a long write-up in the Harijan on August 22, 1936, under the title 'A Dangerous Proposal'and brought into recirculation the term Harijan, children of God, for depressed classes; he said, he could not contemplate of their going out of the Hindu fold. In a letter dated September 7, 1936, to Jugal Kishore Birla, Gandhi wrote: "Today I will only say that to me Sikhism is a part of Hinduism. But the situation is different from the legal point of view. Dr. Ambedkar wants a change of religion. If becoming a Sikh amounts to conversion, then this kind of conversion on the part of Harijans is dangerous. If you can persuade the Sikhs to accept that Sikhism is a part of Hinduism and if you can make them give up the separate electorate, then I will have no objection to Harijans calling themselves Ramanujis or Sikhs."

Till I performed last rituals of my father, I never knew my surname & Gotra. My grandfathers (paternal/maternal) never used and we brothers & sister did our schooling with our maiden names. My son, daughter & nephew proceeded with their prime name but as they appeared for their board examination in 90s, schools directed them to write CAST. I remembered my Gotra but due to uncertain circumstances their surnames appeared in their Secondary Board I cards. But we didn't use that. Who was responsible after so many decades to force us to do something so drastic which was discontinued by our forefathers. Though you replied a question over this issue in affirmation, I don't see this change any time in future. Even those who are suffering till date would never cooperate even if they join the elites of present society.

I don't understand why Dr Shashi Tharoor is not the leader of the opposition yet. If he was, he would have been the PM of India ages ago. If the current standards are anything to judge by, this man is clearly way overqualified for the job! (the job of Prime Minister). Oh wait, screw the current standards, he is light years ahead of any of the current world leaders.

Dear Tharoor ji, Dr Ambedkar while converting to Buddhism took 22 vows & guided his followers to do the same,Is there a mention of its significance in your book…

I don't think the excommunication of people is solely the charecter of the Hindu order alone. Christianity and Islam had some non inclusive tendency too. Buddhism/Jainism/Sikhism too had/have its privileged and under privileged. The rebellion in India against excesses of notorious privileged hindu clans became violent a lot more than under Christianity and Islam. The bigger question we need to address is, are these people intrinsically different or are they one people, if they are two different people we need to find solutions that are different to those being prescribed. The progressive ideals that took hold in the West post evolution of protestant religion and later on the political reorganization owing to widespread scientific values helped give voice to many other burdened/excluded people. It is important to emphasize unless the people fighting privilege embrace the rigorous scientific progressive values they do not have much case.

It is the human phenomenon that self created birth groups with some identity is going to remain for ever of humanity. Answer is read vedic scriptures which are the oldest ever in human heritage. As much as the short coming of such human natural behavior of self grouping can only be eliminated by perfect understanding of such self grouping as well as solutions given there in for right social order and responsibilities as per sanathana Dharma sasthras. It surely shows the way how to live under such circumstances. Throughout the world and nations there had been such social groupingdue to freedom of having their lives within the family as well as such geo social grouping. Since those sastra shows clearly the punishment meted out to wrong doings of any individual or grouping and methods to overcome social evils within those sastra. Categorical examples also have been shown as how to conduct one's life without belittling others dignity and still respect other points of view and live our own life as long as it is within sastra book. Please note any number of constitution and rule of law no way superior to the one given by sastra which do accommodate for everybelief every social grouping etc. Example being honest telling truth compassion to others not to ridicule people tor their miseries and suffering even if one can not help etc. All the scope is there in Veda and sastra for those who do not believe in all of those. Sanathana Dharma is ot just for so called today's coined word Hindu but for all human beings. I include all faith and non faith people in this Sanathana Dharma. Only karma and ritual portions vary as per the social geography and family traditions. No provision at all for coercion at all as information is clear about what might happen for one if followed or otherwise by wisdom.

Dr. Tharoor could mention the contribution of Jogen Mandal in rehabilitating Dr. Ambedker in his own constituency. Ultimately poor Mandal had to leave Pakistan to his destiny of political oblivion!
