Dr. Strange Meets The Ancient One Scene | Doctor Strange (2016) Movie Clip 4K Ultra HD [Open Matte]
Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins
Film description: On top of his game, the brilliant but arrogant New York City neurosurgeon with the magic hands, Dr. Stephen Strange, is more interested in fame and his perfect success rate than saving lives. Then, humbled by a nearly fatal car accident, and with both his impeccable career and his gifted hands mangled beyond repair, Strange heads to Kamar-Taj, a mystical place of healing in Kathmandu, begging the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme and leader of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, for salvation and enlightenment. However, war is brewing over, as the corrupt, power-obsessed former disciple, Kaecilius, and his Zealots, are bent on unlocking an unfathomable parallel dimension, and usher in a new dark era on Earth. Now, the world is on the verge of destruction. Can Doctor Strange harness his extraordinary newfound abilities, and accept his destiny?

Minor nitpick, Strange conflates chakras as "fairy tales" Fairy tales, to their credit, are actually bespoke life lessons that teach children valuable morals and cautionary tales. There's a reason we still teach them to our children and share those stories even centuries after they were written. Fairy tales are incredibly useful shared stories across cultures. Chakras are just nonsense, don't conflate them with useful fairy tales.

I feel like this scene really should have been set before Iron-man MCU kick-off and all the magical wonders of Avengers to better sell Strange's disbelief, because after all that happened it's really not that difficult to believe in magic and wonders beyond human medical science. Then maybe just have his training be a timeskip to the current date?

I love the scene from Dr. Strange movie where Strange meets Ancient one, and she says “You're a man looking at the world through a keyhole. You've spent your whole life trying to widen that keyhole... to see more, to know more. And now, on hearing that it can be widened, in ways you can't imagine, you reject the possibility.”. Just because NDT doesn’t know somethings or doesn’t acknowledge or accept, does not mean it’s not possible.

Knew I’ve heard this before! Dr Strange movie! Remarkable words! Please take a minute to read it guys! The ancient one: I never saw your future only its possibility’s! You have such a capacity for goodness, you always excelled, but not because you craved success, but because your fear of failure! Dr strange: Thats what made me a great Doctor! The ancient one: it’s precisely what kept you from greatness! Arrogance and fear still keep you from learning the simplest and most significant lesson of all! Dr strange: which is? Ancient one: ITS NOT ABOUT YOU!! You're a man looking at the world through a keyhole, and you've spent your whole life trying to widen that keyhole, to see more, to know more, and now, on hearing that it can be widened, in ways you can't imagine you reject the possibility.

I came here after watching Bashar channeling videos. As it turns out, you can heal through belief, though perhaps not in the specific way suggested by The Ancient One. Spirit does exist, and beliefs create and directly influence physical reality. In Kung Fu Panda, when Oogway ascended, he spoke to Shifu about the power of belief. It’s interesting and inspiring to return to works of art with a renewed perspective and to see that they hinted at or flat out said the truth from the start, but only now do I understand.

I love how Strange is much more content with the idea of miracle genetic engineering then magic. It might seem odd from our perspective for a hardcore rational to pick and choose what’s possible like that, but when you think about it technology that rebuild the body so radically is a proven fact in this universe. That’s how Captain America came about after all. With how famous Captain America and the Super Soldier

There's an old saying that when technology is too advanced for humans to comprehend, it looks magic. Not saying it isn't possible, but in the grand scheme of comic book universes like Marvel or DC, "magic" is more relevant in past ages but not so in the far future, where nanotech is so advanced it's impossible to tell, and the whole ancient civilization predating humans leaving fancy toys that looked magic, sometimes embedded into humans through genetics.

Apply Theravada or Vipassana techniques to the images that appear on your inner eyelids when you close your eyes (even if it's just blackness, or shifting shadows) and you may eventually see much of this, though what is shown in the film is, necessarily, a crude metaphor at best. Geometric forms that make no sense in this reality, which you cannot draw nor describe using standard 3D logic. Colors that have shape, emotions that have sound, sounds that possess physical texture. The most beautiful architecture you have ever seen, and the ugliest of fractal madness. Zero drugs/alcohol, zero external hypnosis. But you have to be patient. It can take an hour or more for it to begin. And, for the sake of moving forward, I advise that you do your best to accept every image without reaction. Do not try to cling to one for its beauty; nor try to shoo it away because of its disgusting nature. I'm not saying that this is evidence of a so-called astral plane, but I will say that it is evidence of aspects of reality that most of us (including me) currently have no grasp of.
