Sleeping on the floor actually helped me with my upper back pain & improved rounded back & shoulders due to working constantly on the computer ... I'd actually get back the pain if I sleep on a mattress/bed within 2 days straight 🤔 (*Note: I sleep on a 5cm memory foam mattress topper on wood flooring)

Best sleep Ive had was on the floor. On a 7cm foam mattress. Took 2 weeks to get used to, but after that such a good sleep. Did that for several years. Funny thing I laid so still that people thought I were dead 😅 Now I have a 10cm mattress on rigid wood frame, thinking about getting a 7cm instead.

It doesnt matter how i sleep although on my side i prefer, i wake up with a stiff back. I find i have to sit in a chair/recliner for awhile to get the stiffness out of my back. At 50yo and facet joint arthritis, especially lying on my stomache just grinds my spine/facet joints to dust. The spinal curvature i get from sitting i think helps take pressure off the facet joints.

How long does it take gravity to flatten the over curves in the spine?
@Atheria444
@Atheria444 11 ай бұрын
I'm very thin but have cervical spine damage (headache 24/7 since 3 neck injuries starting on 10/1/1995) and then I did something wrong while doing yoga in 2/2020 and hurt my lower back. My spine is very curvy, which makes my butt cute, but the amount of lower back curve isn't good structurally. Anyway, at 56+ years old, I'm getting more and more pain and also have SEVERE insomnia. For almost 4 years, I was sleeping on a 4" thick memory foam and regular foam mattress topper on the floor. I loved it when it was on carpeting in apartments. But, my condo has wood floors, which made it a bit TOO firm...and I also felt societal pressure to get a "real" bed. I got a medium firm mattress with pillow top on a platform bed. Then for some stupid reason I felt it wasn't squishy enough, so I added a 2" (I think it's thicker than that) lumpy memory foam topper in the spring of 2021. I'm so desperate for both pain relief and sleep, I've recently tried sleeping on a yoga mat on the wood floor and also a sleeping bag on a yoga mat on the floor. It didn't go well. For one thing, I'm more of a side sleeper now than back sleeper. As a kid, I was a back sleeper. So, I tried removing the stupid mattress topper I bought and it IS helping, but it's not perfect. I'm still tempted to ditch me "real" platform bed and mattress and get a quality shikibuton to put on the floor.

Already as a kid, I was a curvy girl. Big bum, big thighs, small waist, and wider shoulders again. My parents took multiple times photos of me, lying on my back on the floor, with my legs spread to each side. Now I'm considering sleeping on the floor since I never feel properly rested. I sleep on a bunk bed at the top.

Thank you very much for this video. Interesting because I have degenerative discs (though in better than average shape for a 61 yr F) and love my memory foam bed. 🤔 I do roll around (I’m about 138 lbs. and moderately curvy) and wake up rested. I do attribute that to the emotional work that I do (tapping, sound therapy and energy medicine) because each time I have a session, my body has less pain and discomfort. It’s no secret that wellness starts in the mind. I absolutely do get discomfort and pain if I stay in bed too long, that was very interesting, I’ve always wondered about that. (I worked long and hard through solving the CFS, fibro and depression that I had for years) And of course posture matters 😂 My regards to your wife, she sounds complex and fascinating. That might be a new tagline for me « you’re not going to row through me… » 😉 UPDATE: I started sleeping on the floor (on a palette of assorted cotton and down blankets) and feel great. It’s been about three weeks and I find that I need less hours of sleep than I used to. 8 hours is enough…I used to easily sleep 8,9,10. I definitely have less aches and pains. I went back into the bed after 5 days (felt too lazy to drag out the palette) and felt worse in the morning. I don’t see myself ever going back into a bed.

I have one of those butts. A lot of athletic "black" men and women do. That gap in the lumbar region is a problem when sleeping on my back. Hey - I'm 31, L5S1 disc bulge. Symptomatic since 2009, diagnosed on MRI 2016, worsened and caused S1 nerve root compression a year later. Now under control following the principles here: propanefitness.com/how-i-fixed-my-chronic-back-pain/

How much did your back hurt with the disc bulge, ?? I’ve been doing burpees for years and my new job requires fairly heavy lifting, my lower back hurts but I hope it’s just muscles and not a disc , gonna have to quit this job

„sleep like tribe’s men” WRONG: Unlike indigenous tribes WE HAVE hardhood floors while indigenous tribes sleep on the ground in a hut so incomparable surfaces. For years I slept on the floor on a thick folded duvet akin to a traditional THIN futon and I never slept better. Sleep on a thick but firm futon now.

Sleeping on floor is what prophet muhammad did, even with all his power n wealth. Floor sleeping means no giant bed taking space, no bed bugs, no bed costs, less noise during intercourse.

Throw out your memory foam mattress, Worst beds ever and I am currently in massive pain, Expensive doesn't always mean the best. It's all marketing BS, They say it conforms to your body, In reality it just sags at your bodies heaviest point which for most people on the planet will be around their mid section(hips,waist,stomach,buttock). Won't matter if you sleep on your back it will sag at mid section and you end up with lower back pain, Sleep on your side and your hips will sink and you get hip pain. Best bed I ever slept on was 25+ years ago on a thin futon on wooden slats that wasn't expensive, Thin enough it couldn't sag but just soft enough to give enough support on your bones. It did take a few months to get used to massive change, But I then had that futon for over 10 years and wish I had of kept it, Only reason I got rid of it is because I thought oh well it's over 10 years old maybe it's time for a change, Went with normal mattress and struggled ever since.

That’s for your body. It is genetic to what your ideal amount of support is. Giving advice like “throw out your xyz because it works for Me” is the worst advice. That’s like saying “don’t use your Asthma inhaler because I don’t use it.”
