Hey ACTUAL PSA: if someone LEAVES YOU OR GETS MAD AT YOU BECAUSE YOU WONT HAVE SEX WITH THEM- that relationship isn’t for you. Consent is key no matter what, and it should never be forced, or guilted out of someone. If it’s “just easier than saying no”, than it isn’t sex. It’s rape.

yea, I kinda expected their reactions to be a different to that part. obviously the characters are inexperienced and learning how to navigate all this stuff, and Eric and Adam have a complex history, but Eric did not deserve a "good for him" with that scene. whether Adam was ready/wanted to have sex or not, that should not be a judgement for "how committed" he was to Eric, and it's very harmful of Eric to suggest that
@happy80thgertrude25
@happy80thgertrude25 2 жыл бұрын
@@thebreadofknowledge2350 I was genuinely disappointed, because that was not what I wanted Eric’s reaction to be nor should it be normalized by them or Netflix. That kind of behavior, perpetrated by straight people or not is guilt tripping your partner into sex and is a form of rape. I’m sure people much younger than myself watch this and I worry that they’ll think this is normal behavior in a relationship.
@CatherineKol
@CatherineKol 2 жыл бұрын
@@happy80thgertrude25 I was also disappointed but I think they may have been focusing more on the difficulties of dating when both people aren’t out yet. They still should’ve tried to address the guilt tripping, though. And idk how I feel about the ending where they slightly shame people for thinking kissing another person is cheating…

Yeah I kinda felt like this too. I also feel like the narrative was like “yeah he cheated but he’s finding himself so it’s okay” I’m all for people finding themselves and being true to themselves, but this doesn’t excuse you going behind their back and destroying their trust. I love Eric but I was pretty disappointed with those scenes
@possiblymaybe6711
@possiblymaybe6711 2 жыл бұрын
@@kokomp it’s really stifling to be in a relationship with someone who is hesitant and has been making you feel insecure the entire time. They should’ve never been together tbh. Why date your bully? It was toxic to begin with and a relationship brought out of convenience. It was inevitable that he would meet someone else and be made to feel more natural and comfortable with him. And at that age I don’t even consider it cheating but that’s just me. Teens need to be raised to understand that those years should involve exploration. And I’m a monogamous person thru n thru but it would’ve helped me more if I understood that back then
@kokomp
@kokomp 2 жыл бұрын
@@possiblymaybe6711 I get what you’re saying, and I agree with it to a certain extent. Yes, teens should explore their sexuality and themselves before committing to something with someone else. However, at the end of the day, these aren’t 12 year olds. They’re old enough to understand that cheating on someone isn’t okay. Especially when both parties agreed to get into a relationship. Just because you’re a teenager, doesn’t mean you can get away with the same actions adults get penalized for.

I know I hated how they handled that. It made no sense for Eric to act like that either. The whole "I need to figure out myself" narrative made no sense. Eric already knows himself and he's proud af he'd have no issues exploring himself while still being with Adam. Really felt like the writer sabotaged the relationships cuz they wanted to do something else with Adam for season 4 and needed them to not be together anymore. It felt super off.

ATTENTION GAY MEN! YOU Do Not EVEN HAVE TO LABEL HOW YOU WANT YOUR SEX. It’s between you and your partner. As a gay man, I seriously don’t understand this obsession with having to label ourselves with either a top or a bottom. I don’t understand it. It’s rather weird to be honest, & I find it really odd. It’s just like We are so much more than this discussion.

Plus, when you ask, it's often down to like... some insecurity, or one early suboptimal experience, or an expectation based on body shape/dick size/ethnicity... and then dating apps require that you categorize yourself for life and mainstream gay culture saddles you with all kinds of prescriptive stereotypes based on that choice.
@nelsonth
@nelsonth 2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your sentiment, but it's also true that many gay men prefer to perform in a particular sex position. That may or may not change later in their life, but for right now, if they know what they want, I can see how they might feel it quicker and convenient to just state that.
@usl4689
@usl4689 2 жыл бұрын
I COMPLETELY agree, nobody has to label themselves! They can if they want but I feel like realistically it’s pointless because it’s important to actually like the person. I was convinced I was a bottom and then got into a proper relationship and realised it’s all nonsense, you just do whatever you feel when you get into it and what matches with your partner that’s all. Now to me personally I feel like a label would just put me into a box!

Sometimes it's a medical issue. Some people can't bottom. That needs to be said. Some people are looking for specific things. That also needs to be discussed

@@nelsonth the same applies to straight couples, yet how often is it a subject of discussion who's top or bottom? I think some things are overanalyzed when it comes to gay sex. Perhaps it's because it's still "new" to some folks so writers believe it's fascinating enough to focus but it's just sex, like anyone else
