Jadd Cavalberry no 💩 the lesser degree is the point. Don’t forget also that the bike has a relatively pathetic amount of torque. Added to that, the 720s is more like 800S in reality. They all dyno around 790bhp. Plenty of videos proving it.

Jadd Cavalberry your calculation is incorrect. Start again using the 720S actual power output, 690 wheel horse power, which equates to about 790bhp. Plenty of KZfaq dyno videos proving it. Just for reference a stock Senna produces about 835hp, not 789bhp.

The guy on the bike is short shifting like hell through 1st 2nd and 3rd. You do not need to on r1 just little roll off to bring front down then pin it. Your losing huge amount of performance. Putting a big AR GP1R system on there without an ECU flash will also make bike run pretty bad they run so lean stock. Pretty frustrating 🤦‍♂️

I disagree, I think the biker did a really good job of putting the power down. Having owned a bike I know how difficult it is to keep the front down when accelerating especially on a super bike. the car was just simply more powerful and quicker. As bystanders, it's easy to say one thing but to put into practice it's quite difficult. This is one of the best bike vs car race that I've seen so far.

Agreed sack the rider, it doesn’t take much skill to pin the mclaren down the track but it does take skill to pin a fast bike properly and the rider just simply doesn’t have it.. shouldn’t of been short shifting it like that, it was nearly bogging down when going in to 2nd gear.. The R1 makes all its power at the top of the Rev range.. should have wound it right out through 1st gear using better throttle control to keep the front down.. 1st gear is good for 100 mph on these.. Much more experienced rider would have been a completely different outcome

The bike cannot put its power down until 100mph or it will wheelie. There are pros out there that would beat this 720s using the back break and throttle control but still be close. The 720s using all its computers and big tyres just puts all its power down you can have full bore accel from like 60mph where as the biker is letting off until in 3rd gear at 100mph

Yeah these races always have some sort of street Rossi on the bike. Dude did okay but to really use the full extent of the bikes power you need someone with a lot more skill. My mans really was losing the race in the first gear.

yves 1984 point being you don’t have to worry about a 720s on the road because chances are you’ll probably never see one anyway The worst you’ll have to deal with on a bike on the road is some dude in a Renault Megane RS or some chav in a financed BMW M4/3, of which all 1000cc bikes will piss all over in first gear

I’m sorry chaps I own bikes and cars and there’s no way that dude on the R1 can ride. He needs to practice loads more on how to launch an superbike. First off he needs to have all of his wait over the front end, Front brake on whilst holding the bike in gear just at the biting point..legs wide and levelled right back...Then have the revs modestly high say 5-7k or higher, then launching it off feeding the clutch just right so you don’t flip it or slip it out way too slowly. Covering the rear brake as you cover your first 60ft then tuck the fuck in behind that screen and pin EVERY gear till the redline of peak power. Turn all the traction off next time, and I bet you’ll be loads faster mate. Also hold the gears out longer.. Your shifting way too early pal. That being said the 720s is by no means a slow car. That thing is a missile and a proper weapon. Typically a 720s should cover a quarter mile in 10.1s @ 141mph.. Weather/Driver conditions depending etc. The R1 should cover the same distance in 9.8 @ 150mph.. Weather/Rider & conditions depending. I’ve raced and dragged both cars and bike over my life and launching a bike is a hell of a lot harder than a car. I’m not making excuses for the biker I’m just saying. There are many, many factors to take into consideration when your doing a quarter mile on a bike.. Launching a car on the other hand, especially a 720s is pretty much just a case of holding the motor at the perfect rpm..Dumping the brake peddle and flooring it in a straight line hoping that you can keep it straight and not fuck up, or fluff your gear changes if your using paddles.! Heat in the tyres is also a major factor to take into consideration. Even having a full tank of fuel in the bike could make the difference between winning and losing.

Also from many dyno tests the r1s just didn't have the horsepower that they claimed. More like 170odd. A k5/K6 gsxr pulls a new r1 reasonably easy. Put the 720s up against a competitive rider on an hp4 or the new Honda cbr1000rr-r and it would be alot more in the bikes favour. (for no extra cost)

You can see how 30% or more the R1 did not use it's power off the line it's scary how quick bikes are don't ride them if you can't put power down properly .

Up until a few years ago bikes were faster than cars, but there’s a limit to how much performance you can pack into one rear driven wheel, whereas cars of today are nowhere near the limit of the power they can handle... even tho the 720 is rear wheel driven, it has bigger suspension, bigger wheels, more weight, aero advantage and is SAFER to drive hard...

Lari52289 True, the Agera RS did 26,8s, almost like the H2R and the Regera smashed it at 22,5s. Very impressive. I love Koenigsegg, but not Bugatti (which is why I jumped), probably due to the design of the Veyron. But still, you need around 3M€ for the amazing Regera or Chiron, “only” 55k€ for the amazing Kawa though.

Didn't smoke it actually, on the 1/4 mile yes but overtime the 720S will smoke it. 720S is the fastest accelerating supercar and the 911 turbo s is the fastest 1/4 supercar.

Great effort from Danny, he looked to be getting more familiar with the take-off's and he's spot on about the aerodynamics and what happens, as we saw in the video its pretty much even Stevens to 160 ish and then the aerodynamics of the car help it to start pulling away. I think only a MOTO GP bike would properly see the McLaren off or a supercharged Kawasaki H2R. At the end of the day look what you have to spend to beat a bike, - 250k, in the real world this type of high speed racing would never really happen or maybe just from the lights. I remember a few years ago a video on YT of the S1000RR doing a timed run at Nardo and did 120 MPH in 6.5 secs , 2nd gen Hayabusa did 150 in 10 secs. For a long time bikes ruled the streets but now cars have quickly caught up. Great stuff from Ricky

Used to have an R1 (much older) and it was nicknamed the widow maker I believe! You can pick one of these later R1s for less than £13k now; brings supercar performance acceleration for peanuts really. Great video, that 720s is a weapon, enjoyed that vid cheers 👍

Depends on the road and weather conditions. Nothing can beat the acceleration of a bike on a smooth windy open road on a cool summer’s day. But I’d rather be in a car for any trip that involves a motorway or A road

Just googled it, R1 has about 1000bhp/tonne power to weight ratio. Mclaren 720s has about 560bhp/tonne. Will be interesting to see if R1 can put the power down. Mclaren will almost certainly launch better.

You’ve got to include the weight of the person riding the bike though. Has a massive influence, once a average 80KG bloke sits on it it takes the power to weight down to around 700bhp/tonne!

Saif0412 the R1 has launch control and anti-lift to control the front wheel. Neither of which this rider deploys. His skill level is not great on the bike at all unfortunately
