I met your uncle Bill in 1974 I was 8 and it was at byron dragway in byron illinois,he gave me an autographed black and white poster. I loved that poster lost it in a fire. But a I saw him again at byron atound 2003 or so they were filming a history channel show on trucks or something, I got a autographed pic from him and got to see him doit for the last time or atleast it was suppose to be,anyway he was awesome one of my favorite childhood memories as well as an adult. Wheels up my friend.

My family moved to Harrisburg in 69, my Dad owned BH&O Chevrolet in Harrisburg for years. That was how I met Bill. When my Dad hired him to do his show at the local drag strip and to show his truck and sign autographs at the dealership for the day before going to the strip. He talked about growing up in Shawneetown and all the great times he had there. I've been to Oakland City, it's a nice town. Glad to have you back in the neighborhood.

Scott, I was lucky enough to meet your Uncle Bill back in the 70's when my Dad's Dealership in Harrisburg Sponsored him to put on a demostation at the Harrisburg Drag Strip. It worked out great, he got to be home for a little while and see his old friends and I had a chance to work with Bill that day. He truely brought class to the sport.

sounds like you guys had a Blast,I would expect nothing less,I spent enough time around him to know how much he really enjoyed his friends & fans,he didn't take it all for for granted....He was also one of the hardest working showmen in the sport. Thx for sharing Mike...!!!

I remember how he used to drive past the grade school in Shawneetown when we were on recess. Totally cool.

That was my 67 Nova I built back in 82. It was a destroked 400 or a 383, 4 bolt mains, and way to much more to add here. The blower was a Gary Dyer 6-71 set up.

Thanks Scott for the movies. I met your uncle Bill in Calgary Alberta back in the 80s, showing his car in a mall, and talked with him and bought autographed memorablia. Really nice guy! Do you know if that car is in a museum now? Or...... if other cars are..? Thanks! I'd love to see one again.:)
