ℹ️ About the Episode: The process of getting a new RV dialed in can be stressful at times. It's important to remember that all the problems come together right out of the gate. Luckily, the fridge fix from last week worked great! You'll have to watch this episode to find out why marinara sauce was splattered all over the floors! We used to call these "dips," but with more experience, we just call it RVing. We know there's going to be a lot of commentary about the Airstream dragging. We knew this would happen. Not all Airstreams need to be lifted, but with the tail swing of the 30' model combined with the height of the F250... it seems to happen at least once on each leg. We'll be visiting Ronnie soon, and a 3" lift is first on our list of mods. In fact, a lift is required for the Airkrafters on-board generator installation. Candidly, working through these issues is actually fun to share. It’s like that great line from Kevin Costner, who plays a rescue swimmer for the Coast Guard in the movie The Guardian: "The only difference between you and the victim is the attitude in which you enter the water.” We knew when selling our dial-in Flying Cloud and purchasing a new-to-us Airstream that we'd spend the first month (or two) working through problems and learning which cabinets fly open and just when to duck your head. Looking back at all our RV adventures, we don't remember the “dips” as much as we remember the places and people we've visited.

This week, I read in a book an explanation of what a mixed tape was, listened to a podcast that explained what "re-runs" were, and now I've seen a young adult ask what a dial tone is. Man, I'm feeling like a time-traveller from a distant age.

Hi from Spring Lake, MI! FYI, the cabinet latches come in 5 lb and 10 lb versions. The 10 lb latch might be better for your cabinet, as it requires more force to open. It’s part number 381228: Catch grabber door latch, 10 lb. - available in Woodland Airstream’s online parts department. It worked for our large cabinet door that houses our tabletops. Happy trails!

The Elvis VIP tickets were 100% worth it. I went a few years ago for my first time to Memphis. I an so glad I splurged. I love elvis and always have. We had a small group and a personal tour guide that we could ask questions to and she gave us alot of tid bits that she's learned throughout her time working there. And the BEST part, we got to go to a VIP only exhibit and we got to touch one of Elvis' guitars! So so worth it! Even my husband loved it and he isn't a huge Elvis fan

At Graceland, the VIP tickets can be a real benefit if you come on a day when it is packed, like during Elvis week or other special events that draw big crowds. I learned this during our visit a few years back from one of the gate attendants. I was going to buy the VIP experience and she said "Honey, save your money", advising the light crowds made one of the lessor packages the better buy, so your instincts were spot on. I love the fact you set up camp with your Airstream using the cheapest chock blocks known to man. That is awesome 😂😂😂

Little tip! The basket you had on the shelf that flew open. If you put a clingy mat underneath, it would grip enough to prevent it from sliding and banging into the cabinet door. Or maybe little rubber nubs nubs under the basket would also work.

I cringed and giggled a little at the same time when I heard about “the marinara issue”. On our first ever trip out West from PA in our Outback, crossing on I-20, we went through Shreveport, LA. The interstate was horrible rough!! I think the RV got air a few times!! At our next stop, I opened the RV door to have some lunch and……dun, dun duhhh!!!…..a quart of spaghetti sauce all over the floor AND the appliances, AND the cabinets, AND everywhere! Fortunately, there was no carpet involved in our mess, but still, when that sauce gets in the crevices of your cabinets, it’s almost impossible to get out. Oh! And that’s not all! Apparently, we’re stupid, and didn’t learn our lesson from this little event cuz it happened a second time on THE SAME TRIP!!! Yep, another spaghetti sauce jar had liberated itself from the top cabinet and exploded on the floor. (Insert Homer voice here) DOH!!!!! The moral: NEVER do we store spaghetti sauce in the top cabinets of our RV. Pro tip!! It now lives on the floor under the sink!!! Lesson learned FOREVER! Thanks Marc and Trisha for keeping it entertaining. Love your content.

Thanks for today video. Enjoyed. We have a issue with the clip for our fridge. We use a bar to prevent the fridge from openning. The final scene of the video reminds me so much of our granddaughters and them learning how things used to work. Ages 6 & 4 love getting phone calls on our Landline. It has taken them a while to learn how to hold a regular phone properly. Originally, I would get my sister to call and ask for them. Today, they asked if they could call and they both a chatty conversation with their great aunt. At Easter they discover a Bar of Soap! So when they arrived today, and had to wash their hands, so they could help make cookie (Chocolate Chip, some with sprinkles), they asked if they could use the Bar of Soap.

I feel for ya with the marinara sauce (and the whole fridge not latching thing)... I replaced our 12v Furrion with a residential fridge, which didn't have any means to latch the door. I installed a pair of child locks to keep the door closed. On our last trip to VT to see the eclipse, I pulled over to get gas and noticed a stream of white liquid running from the lower edges of our camper. Opened the door to find milk **everywhere** - either the child locks failed or someone (who shall remain unnamed) forgot to latch them, and 2 half gallons of milk came flying out and smashed on the floor... Ah, yes... the joys of RV life 😢 lol

We have a globetrotter as well. We kept our can goods and glass containers in that same cabinet. Last summer during one of our road trips, we opened the trailer to find the cans all over the trailer and broken glass. I wish it was marinara. Unfortunately it was bottle of tequila and a bottle of hot sauce that broke. There was tequila all over the trailer. It smelled like we were having a fun time for weeks. 😂 Light items now go in that cabinet. We put the heavy items in the pull out cabinet with the button and in the cabinets over the sink/stove area of the kitchen. No more problems. Watching you two and the problems that you are having is like watching our trips after getting our Globetrotter on DVR. 😂 We love every memory that we make even the bad ones. We laugh at the Mexican party of 2023. 🎉😂

We were east of you guys in Pleasant Plains, AR for the eclipse. Then we were heading east to Nashville, Louisville, and back home. Our Nashville visit was marred by the fact we lost our alternator just west of Nashville. I wanted to pass on, so you could pass on to your audience, that Facebook groups were a big help in our dilemma. I belong to the Airstream Addict group and the North American BMW Diesel owners group. Putting a help message on both got our AS towed to our campsite, and my BMW X5 into a BMW repair shop quickly. I see you left your wheel chocks behind, well we left our Smartplug power cable back in Arkansas. Something else to share, NO ONE carries replacements! None of the major RV centers did! So we basically boondocked at our last few campsites. So remember your checklists! Keep up the great work!

Hey Marc, a little piece of L shaped aluminum would work perfect for that cabinet.. Happy trails to you guys !! Love your channel Rick & Mona~

Having started kayaking a few years ago I have discovered the utility of bungee cords! Buy a spool of 1/8" or 3/16" cord. Just anchor one on each side of the inside of the cabinet, maybe 1.5" high and an inch in. You prevent items from slamming the inside of the cabinet door. They beat the tension rod cuz they are easy to stretch out of the way for easy access!

I laughed about your wheel chocks. We've rolled right over our levelers and left them behind, but the new ones we got were even better. Loved the part about the phone booth. I must be old. Have cell phones been around that long already?? Great video. Thanks for sharing!

I rolled over these and felt it! But thought it was a hole being parked on gravel/grass.
