That was genius writing, meant exactly for the player. Questioning all our decisions back in DA2 since we failed at every point. Almost all family dead or traumatized, companions scattered, forced to kill both friends and enemies and in the end the city Hawke protected turned against him.

Actually choosing to save hawke over Stroud is stupid, from a story standpoint it's more tragic and actually has meaning if hawke dies, Stroud is a nobody so his death is meaningless, also Hawke will not appear in future da games so you may aswell

I actually laughed at Dorian's reaction. Everyone's so defiant and fearful, and Dorian's just over here like he's been harassed by fear demons all his life. He only sounds mildly put out at the demon's insult, like it's just so rude he can't stand it.

The fact remains that the writers of Origins were far too nice to Morrigan, never putting her through half of the mean-spirited character assassination that all the others went through. She was the special snowflake whom nothing affected and who was cleverer and more advanced mentally than everyone else. 🙄

It's the logical conclusion seeing how Bull is afraid of being possessed by a demon ;-)

Well there's so little to him in comparison to the other Grey Wardens and Hawke. He's a good start to a character, but there isn't too much there yet. Still yeah, it's kind of sad he gets killed so often because people can't bare to lose Hawke. Heck, I did the same myself.

SetsunaNoroi I'm just not sure why they put Stroud there, Bethany or Carver as Wardens, heck even anyone from Awakening would've fit better. I guess that would've been a ton of work to figure out all the specifics.

I'm not sure I would have liked to have to chose between Bethany or Hawke actually. That would have broken my heart. Carver I might have picked to die, but only because it would be a good finale to his character to lay down his life for his sister after everything he'd felt about her before, but then he died in Lothering in my play through so I guess that wouldn't even be an option. I think Bioware put him in for the "safe" bet. Through in a character not many know or care about. That way you soften the blow of the choice. There are going to be those that play Bioware games that want as many happy endings as possible and sacrificing a character you know little about is much easier.

I have a different point of view of Stroud. I think that in this momment he doesn't represents just a needless character. I guess he's more like the very only one cappable enough to rebuilt the Gray Wardens Order back to the glory. In my campaign I died to kill the Archdemon and after all this mess with de Venatori, the Gray Wardens has just lost their respect and honor, because no one else would trust them to save their asses again. And I kinda understand why they attended to blood magic. The Blight is the only event that allow us to take whatever it takes to save everyone. In fact, the Gray Wardens Order itself is based on blood magic, since you've got to drink Darkspawn blood to become one. No one in all Thedas would sacrifice what must be sacrificed to end a Blight.

No matter what love interest Hawke has if its not Anders he will try to divide them. Hurlock alpha i fucking loathed him as well. didn't get me to kill him though. A simple execution doesn't do it justice, he needs to be torn apart by a mob of relatives of the ones that died in the explosion.

I am ROSSO I didn't execute him because it felt cheap to just stab him in the back like that. So i let him go the first time, to run and never come back. "Thank you for my life. I will try to make less mess of it this time..." he said. You know what he did? He confronted me in the Gallows saying that i was a templar boot kisser (like i didn't help enough mages in this game...) and wanted to fight me. That really pissed me off. And yes... I sided with the templars in the end... for good reasons. As an archer i one shoted him with my Assassination ability. At least as a rival he accepts that he is dangerous to others around him and wants me to kill him. We should have had the option to let Sebastian kill him. People like him too much for no reasons at all and are even willing to let the terrorist live and start a Kirkwall/Starkhaven war in which probably thousands of people will die. Talk about hypocrisy... Sometimes people don't think at all what consequences their choice will make later.

The line he says about Hawke really struck a blow with me, the first time I heard it. It's just so awful. Here, Hawke tried so hard to save Kirkwall and lost their family, and this demon has the nerve to say it never mattered and that Hawke's love interest is also going to die? What the hell? It both hurt and royally pissed me off. I never wanted things to go so badly, I did my best as Hawke. Fuck that demon.

But really the demon is right. Its sad but true. Somehow this is the only demon's dialogue that hurt, because in the end only 1 of his siblings survived and none of what he's done mattered. Its double worse and true when its about Anders, too because out of all companions save Fenris, hes the only one that is doomed no matter what.

Well if he chose the Grey Warden route you could say that they were doomed to die because Hawke brings them to the Deep roads even though they're not quite dead yet unless the hero of ferelden finds some way to cure the warden's and save them from the calling or they may actually be dead because if you bring them to the Deep roads without bringing Anders they actually die

If my canon Inquisitor were to be addressed, she'd probably have a similar response to Dorian. In the sense that shevd shrug it off. Shevd been a templar for nine or so years in my world for her and has seen some pretty awful stuff post Kirkwall Chantry explosion (she was part of the help sent out). More likely one or two things would be mentioned that isnvt the Inquisition: either her 'fear' of lyrium (she isnvt afraid, but would like to stop taking it. Everytime she's tried though it's also been her close to dying a week later so itvs a bit nightmarish anytime she underestimates a journey), or something Cullen related. Perhaps both in one foul swoop. I think Trevelyan would shrug it off in a similar manner to Alistair but in Dorian's tone. Something like 'I faced worse in Kirkwall.' or 'I had to deal with five Maleficar at once and I looked death in the eye. In comparisons you' re Orlais' parties.' Shevs too focused on the situation for it to really get to her, but it's more likely to hit after deciding the Warden's fate (joining the Inquisition) and shevs finally got a breather. Worth noting she dealt with harassment from plenty of Kirkwall templars. Either those two things or her younger brother being a red templar. It's another big fear of hers. Nightmare demon has plenty to. feed off but he"s hardly going to get a reaction from a comment that's not worth remembering further down the line. She'll be shaken once the objective is completed. Redcliffe hit harder than Nightmare ever would, I suppose.

First your parents abandoned you in the circle, then Jowen betrayed you and left you to the mercy of the Templars, then Duncan abandoned you and Alistair left you with the responsibility of saving Ferelden and then Morrigan left you and ran off with your child. Morrigan and Kieran are going to die and you'll be all alone again. Hero of Ferelden: I killed one demon before and he had an army of Darkspawn behind him!

With my first character I had Allistair as king but still left Hawke and saved Stroud, because I don't know what the wardens will become without a good leader (and i just can't leavem them without one. I love the wardens so much. *still crying over Duncan*) I want to play again with Allistair as warden, but I want to save Hawke, because he is also pretty cool. But leaving Allistair is impossible! What will become of my hero of ferelden when her love of her life dies? But on the other side, did you see Varrics Tarot card after you leave Hawke? It broke my heart :( So much desicions... so much pressure... i can't take it... this game's gonna kill me >.

I think the next game should have a demon like the Nightmare join your party, one who's possessed a Tevinter Blood Mage and starts off just as creepy as this guy. Over the course of the game, you'd be able to try and redeem him, where he'll still be creepy, but he'll turn back into a spirit and his personality will blend with his host's, or you'd be able to push him even further into demonhood, where he'd become absolutely terrifying, but would give you a big advantage in terms of power. It would be cool just for the sake of having his dialogue with other party members involve prying into their past and taking delight in making them uncomfortable and angry. A sadistic version of Cole, basically.

It’d be interesting except for the fact that it would be impossible to change or redeem him since he’s a fear demon. Spirits are embodiments of emotions, essentially an emotion that was given a physical form. A demon is that gone wrong and turned evil. So it would be impossible to change or redeem a demon of fear or rage, or change a spirit of compassion and wisdom unless they are corrupted.

I do kind of wish they'd said something to the Inquisitor, but it wouldn't have the same impact since they can't guess our innermost fears. However, I thought they did a very good job unnerving me anyways. Between listening to this thing torment my companions and running around fighting giant spiders and reading all these miserable letters and stories about suffering I couldn't help and in some cases had a hand in myself (there's a letter from one of the soldiers at Adamant or sth, and the "you're leading people to their deaths, they will die for and because of you" thing hit me pretty hard) and then seeing your companions' names on creepy gravestones with their deepest fears etched into them... This level was actually kind of emotionally draining for me. I definitely cried at least once.

I'm not going to lie. This mission along with the one where you recruit Dorian and go into the future are probably the best two missions in this game.
