This is the classic tale of Corsa the Jackal, a favorite from Bedtime Stories for Good Children, by Sister Marigold.
This cautionary tale teaches the importance of honesty and how false promises and flattery are their own downfall.
Adapted from an original story in Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume II.

This reminds me of that kid's story Jaal told Lexi, Peebee, and Liam about the wayward child who snuck aboard a spaceship seeking adventure only to get spaced out of a garbage airlock where she met her end in the cold vacuum of space. So if i'm honest here, more of these tales please :D

I played all the mass effect and dragon age games and read most of the books. Sorry andromeda was a disappointing game that the developers don't even try to defend. As a fan I was super disappointed in the pandering they did in the game to the sjw crowd but also to the overall lack of development and story they did. It was still a playable game and overall I still want a part 2 and dlc. However that game is a epic drop off much like dragon age 2 was

What is this? Is reference to this childrens' tale going to be made in future Dragon Age games? Adults in Thedas would surely scoff at the thought of one of their party referring to a childrens' tale for guidance. Maybe Alistair would be the only one who would think they were relevant to a quest.

The story was already featured in Dragon Age 2 as a codex attached to the Jackal's Longbow, a weapon looted from the high dragon at the Bone Pit. Parents in Thedas, much like parents in our world, construct instructional tales to help guide their children.

If you think "overthinking" is a thing, then you clearly do not think enough. There is never a bad time to think. Thinking and "overthinking" both create questions you would not notice if you don't think. Never stop thinking.

As numerous self-help articles and books will tell you, overthinking (ie. over-analyzing what should be a simple decision or a media product with a plainly-stated message) is absolutely a thing. If you see a fun little cartoon intended to entertain and immediately begin questioning its intent and possible inclusion in an as-yet-nonexistent narrative, you're overthinking.

Please always try to just, Keep Things Simple. I'm now almost Fifty years old, an avid gamer since Atari & I've always preferred Keeping it Simple. I'll never forget Diablo 2 for example where you could play the entire game with nothing more than a Three Button Mouse!?! and Millions LOVED it! :-) I Don't want to ever! be Stand Around Doing Noting, Crafting, Reading, Countless Abilities & Buttons to Remember etc.? NO! I want to be out Enjoying the game. Out in the world Fighting & Finding Loot!
