Frieza isn't actually all that cruel though. He's probably the most intelligent fighter on the show and he values and rewards his subordinates. He also gives his enemies opportunities to surrender. He's spiteful sure, but he doesn't commit evil just for the sake of it.

Yamcha didn't like Goku and fought against him Krillin didn't like Goku and fought against him during Roshi's training but that was the quickest resolution and friendship Tien and Chiaotzu really didn't like Goku and were his enemies Piccolo hated Goku and was his enemy Vegeta hated Goku and was his enemy Android 17 and 18 were programmed to kill Goku and were going to Majin Buu just wanted to destroy everything and was Goku's enemy Beerus was technically Goku's enemy in Battle of the Gods as we was going to destroy Earth because of Buu's disrespect. Who wasn't Goku's enemy? Hell, Chichi even fought him at a martial arts tournament because she was angry at him. Everybody in the main series or rather mostly everyone started out hating Goku or being his enemy.

But he has intelligence of a sorts, he's capable of recognising situations, acting appropriately, has very good problem solving skills, can clearly think outside of the box and comes up with interesting combinations, techniques. All of which are signs of high intelligence. The major difference in a character like Goku, he has no education, no prior knowledge of what we consider common to know. But he's a genius when it comes to fighting and recognising character in people. So maybe you're the idiot who's too dumb to recognise that difference in intelligence and knowledge.
