Plus, Naruto has always been a huge simp, where Goku never simps to anybody; In the original Dragon Ball, he reveals to Chichi that he only agreed to marry her because he thought a bride was a kind of food (keep your heads out of the gutter, pervs!).

I was 11 when the episode first released. I still remember the internet being broken for like a week straight. Perhaps even more. Everyone was talking about Ultra Instinct, even in school. Now I'm 16 turning 17 this year, and still can't help but be in awe of Ultra Instinct and how it works. Can't believe it's been almost exactly 6 years since episode 110 and the reveal of Ultra Instinct.

@@northscreamy1652 It blew our little pre teen/teenage balls off. It was absolutely insane. Goku and the Z fighters NEVER seemed "That" different from regular super heroes. What we saw in Dragonball was zany, goofy, and fairly light hearted...it wasn't to be taken "seriously". It was within the realm of understanding, the fights. It "made sense". DBZ in its early arcs were like that too: you can feasibly understand what was going on. It still "made sense", the abilities shown were seemingly normal for what we could comprehend. Super Saiyan was something that lingered in the background, foreshadowed ever since Vegeta showed up on the scene. We knew of its existence, but not what it would manifest as. I'm almost kinda mad the end of episode showcase of the next episode slightly ruined it since we got a glimpse of it. But man, we had NO idea wtf was going to happen. Frieza was so fucking powerful. The spirit bomb, which was shown as one of the most potent, powerful attacks you could muster...didn't finish him off. He legit killed Piccolo and Krillin like swatting flies. Dude was done fucking around. Just merc'd two of Goku's steadfast allies, Krillin being his best friend. Gohan was presumably next. Earth's Dragonballs had been used to revive BOTH of them before. They COULD NOT be revived. Guru was dead so at that point the Namek Dragonballs were useless too. It was the epitome of hopelessness. Then, you had the scene happening where Goku began channeling...something? We didn't know what was going to happen. Thunder started, the earth began to creak..the very oceans churned. Fire bellowed from beneath the ground, the sky became an eerie dark green color as the wind howled. Goku flashed gold for a second and manifested what we had been waiting like three seasons for. We were ALL like Gohan and Frieza: fucking speechless. I was literally holding my breath. And then, he finally yelled with a mighty shout to the heavens themselves, enveloped in a golden aura with his green eyes, hair, stark gold from its trademark black. This was it. This was the legendary warrior: the Super Saiyan. The legends were not just some bullshit Vegeta made up to comfort himself. This was...transcendent. Something we'd NEVER seen before. The show itself was trying to convey to you: This is a level and magnitude you can't hope to understand - this is totally new. And it was. Goku was NEVER this serious before, this angry, this fierce. It was a Goku we had never been introduced to before. He was so happy, goofy, wierd, determined, but NEVER like this had he been so filled with rage, hatred, etc... Frieze bodied the shit out of all of his opponents before, transforming. He made Vegeta, one of the strongest dudes we'd seen before look like absolute fodder in his final form. THIS guy was SCARED of what he was seeing. I can't describe to you how fucking epic this was. It was like watching the manifestation of the rage of all those that Frieza killed combine to defeat this evil tyrant. It was truly a good vs. evil battle at that moment. It wasn't just two strong dudes fighting each other. This was something that went beyond everything we'd seen before and changed the history of DB and Anime itself. I can't convey to you how revolutionary Super Saiyan was to Anime. There isn't a Shounen in existence since 1991 that hasn't tried to utilize or capture some of the mystique that Super Saiyan has. Even shows like Attack on Titan: Eren becoming more than what he was to defeat his foes with an awesome, otherworldly power and form, borrow from Super Saiyan: the idea that you can transcend your limits and become something more. Before this, super heroes were practically born with their power, or some mad science accident gave them powers. DB threw that all out of the window and showed that hard work, determination, and training combined with something a little extra, could push you past your limits. Dragonball is one of THE grand daddies of Anime and inspired SO many shows both in and outside of the Shounen genre it's not even funny. Not even One Piece did for Anime what DB did. Iconic is truly a fitting word for what this scene was to us in the 90s. Yes, Astroboy and other anime before it definitely paved the road for DB, but DB has influenced the medium like few other things have.
