I really liked this lil mini arc... They got to fight someone who actually made their wish for immortality and without Goku. All 3 of them got a chance to show their stuff and this for me is one of Gohan's most underrated times

He won’t, unfortunately. Whoever did the story for this wrote themselves into a corner by saying the Makyo Star is the main source of power for the Makyans; with the Makyo Star gone, their power is lessened. And since Garlic Jr. used the power of the Makyo Star to escape the Dead Zone...

@@RyunosukeHachi Not necessarily. There are a few sets of dragon balls. One of his followers could wish for the Mayko Star to return. Maybe Garlic Jr. would develop a way to absorb the power of the planet into himself so that way the source of power wouldn't be external. So that way it wouldn't matter if he gets stuck into the dead zone. They would have to defeat him another way.

Yes but the Nakos Star was the source of his power It’s how he escaped the Dead Zone after first movie After Gohan destroyed Nakos Star, Garlic Jr. was powerless and was sucked in Dead Zone. With his immortality and no power, he’s trapped for all eternity

Honestly imagine if Goku instead of recruiting Frieza, he ends up finding a way to recruit Garlic Junior for the ToP. It be so silly yet epic. Also we could get a weird nod to where Pilaf greets Garlic Junior and it be funny if they happen to be cousins. I can imagine Garlic Junior with a Toei level boost to his power all of a sudden him wrestling with berserker Kale.

Daddy I Said Stop It is canon to the anime. It's referenced in the Cell Saga as Gohan goes SSJ2. And there're also multiple times where filler is referenced in OG DB and DBS.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but the Garlic Jr. saga and Dead Zone are my 2 favorite story arcs in DBZ. Just generally a little bit darker than other seasons. I really like horror and the fact that everyone is pretty much turned into a vampire in the saga is really cool. Also in the later sagas/seasons of DBZ the scale of everything just got to be a bit to much. Started to screw with the continuity of it all. Not that I don't like all of DB or anything It's just that when they started to exceed SSJ and go to SSJ2 and 3 and then every enemy had a million fucking transformations it just got to be a little much I think. Still my favorite anime though.

It could have been cool if Garlic Jr. would appear in Dragonball Xenoverse 1&2. Maybe he would appear in a future Dragonabll Xenoverse game, who knows? That will be exciting. 🤩

@@twistsnkicks Garlic Sr. and Jr. are together forever, in the dead zone, assuming that dimension might not have quantifiable time as we know it...anywayz, it would be cool if Garlic sr. somehow gave Garlic jr. a new power upgrade, or introduced a more powerful ancient star in alignment. Theoretically, the Makyo star could have a larger twin star w/in universe 6, Beerus seemz to have less mass than his U6 twin, (no claim on who would win a death battle). I would like to see one more Garlic Jr saga in DBS w/Sr. & yes even lil Pilaf, but OP him & miss me wit dat robot trash, also an oportunity perhaps for a new set of dragonballz, or the super-dragonballz, combine, align, benign, wishes,lol

They should make garlic Jr return in dragon ball super much stronger and new transformation. it would also be interesting if he was revealed as a relative to Emperor Pilaf and they together would try to steal the dragonball to wish back the makyo star but i dont know if Pilaf would agree on that because he wants to wish for money and world domination.

Rambo20ize I would like him to return by having his brother (I know it is not Canon anywhere) Pilaf gather the dragon balls to free him from the dead zone and after that use the second wish to transfer the infinite power of the Makyo Stat to himself. Only the gods know how OP this gremlin could get if such a thing were to transpire. I'd love to see him start his own intergalactic empire and wage war with Frieza's. And then you'd have someone like Broly set loose to obliterate both armies for shits and giggles as the cast just sit back and watch the fireworks and gore...

Tempting, but Gohan destroyed the Makyo Star. That's what allowed Garlic Jr to escape the Dead Zone the first time. Without it, he'll probably be trapped in the Zone forever...

I think Garlic Jr. has a huge amount of potential to be a universal threat. He would be a great reoccurring villain, like Ganon is with Zelda. He would keep coming back since he can never truly die. And he's the only filler villain that could be fit into the story without breaking it. Imagine if one of his followers uses the dragon balls to bring the Makyo Star back, and Garlic Jr. figures out how to absorb the power of the planet into himself, therefore, it wouldn't matter how many times he gets stuck in the Dead Zone, as he'd bust out. They would have to figure out another way to stop him. He can bring forth hordes of demons from various worlds to attack the heroes, he has immortality and maybe could even use the dead zone to trap the deities. Even though he's no match for beings like the angels or the omni kings, perhaps he could devise way to imprison them. Therefore he would be the sole ruler of the entire multiverse. He would be like a combination of Moro and Zamasu, but way more effective. Remember that vision he had when he first became immortal in the movie? Imagine the Z Fighters fighting hordes of demonic creatures and aberrations as they try to find out how to stop Garlic Jr.

For what this is I enjoyed it. You got to see the lookout more fleshed out and gohan get a extra win and it wasnt the goku show. Yeah parts of it are boring. The music was killer and for the other reasons I think this arc as well as the first movie would be pretty cool canon. I mean obviously the way the deadzone movie was written it cant be but had the movie been written to correlate with the canon this is a justifiable arc.

Garlic Jr power wasn't anywhere near Frieza's power even in his first form so why was Piccolo acting like he was so worried when he transformed? This Saga happens after the Namek Saga too considering where they squeezed it in there timeline wise.

Ken Gevon Garlic Jr wished for immortality in the movie deadzone which made him completely immortality. Even if frieza could beat him down like nothing his power would still increasing by the makyo star which means his power could grow strong enough to face friezas final form only if frieza doesnt detect the makyo star and realize its the source of garlic jrs power in time. You dont know how powerful he can become with makyo star. He could become strong enough to overpower both cell and broly by absorbing the power from makyo star in many days.

+Jeff Hardy If Piccolo had trouble beating Garlic Jr form at even at his full power then even frieza in his 2nd would have problem as well. i would say that Garlic Jr is equal to 3rd form frieza.

The biggest mistake was not making this Canon. Surely toriyama would have adapted the garlic Jr sagas into the Mangas, right?

The garlic Jr arc in the anime is based on a movie that can't take place in the timeline. The best Toriyama could do would be add Garlic to Super with a new plot like Broly, but hes not anywhere near strong enough to be a villain and Kami is no longer a character. So he's stuck in non canon limbo

They could either make a new dragon ball prequel explaining the origins of garlic Jr and therefore make this arc canon, seeing how this saga doesn't conflict with the main timeline too much or make an all new canon version that is similar but different. Anyone can be canon. If they can do it for Gogeta Broly and Paragus, they can do it for Garlic Jr.

No, the makyo star got closer to earth and it helped him give enough power to break out of the dead zone. That is why he is a lot stronger. The closer his home world is to him, the stronger he becomes.

Like... no joke, Garlic Jr. makes me think of a much more evil Emperor Pilaf. But honestly? No disrespect to Chuck Huber, but his voice does NOT work for Garlic, in my opinion. Don Brown's take on the dwarf was much more intimidating in my opinion and worked so much better.
